A one day period is not an actual period - it's either spotting or an anovulatory cycle. Sometimes women will have an extremely long cycle, because their body never made enough estrogen to reach the threshold necessary for the egg to be released. There may be a drop in estrogen which causes a slight shedding of the uterine lining. In women over 40, the cause of anovulatory bleeding is often the result of a decreased sensitivity to the hormones FSH and LH. The result is that the woman may not ovulate, and without progesterone to sustain the lining, spotting or bleeding may occur. In all these cases, though, the bleeding is not technically menstruation.

P.S. regarding implantation spotting: it wouldn't seem like a period at all. We're talking minimal spotting, and it doesn't always occur. I've been pregnant twice without seeing any implantation spotting. You need to think about what the bleeding was like, and if it was extremely light, you should take a pregancy test.

you might be pregnant. when the egg implants itself onto the uterine wall some women bleed for a day or two then it goes away (that happened to me). Take a prego test or see your doctor

It's possible, but there are a lot of factors such as illness or infection that could be causing it, so see the doc to be sure

If you are on any type of birth control it will make your period irregular. If you're not, i'd see a doctor but everyone is diff. Hell, I wouldn't complain.

This happened to one of my friends and not to alarm you but it was a miscarriage. It might not be that because cycles can get screwed up but you might want to see your doctor.
