I don't see how you can think that the intelligent design theory states that God designed people to evolve. If anything, it says the opposite. If anything, intelligent design is creationism cloaked in scientific terminology, and to say the least, it's faulty science! Proponents of creationism and intelligent design basically try to use science to back up their preconceived notions, and to say the least, this is irresponsible and not conducive to uncovering the truth. And not only that, but despite what many would like to believe, there IS evidence that Darwin's theory is correct. After all, there are more genetic similarities between humans and chimpanzees than there are between Asian and African elephants. And not only that, but a fossil of a long-extinct fish was discovered some time ago, and it was shown that its fins were in the process of evolving into limbs. Plus, the fossil of a dog-like creature that eventually evolved into the whale has been found. The evidence is everywhere!

Ignorance, in so many things, is the answer. The main problem with the debate, and with the hostility so often accompanying it, is that people don't know that evolution is only a theory. There are aspects of it that have not been, nor ever will be, proved. But many many many on the evolution side of things think that evolution is somehow a "fact" and containing more "truth" than anything any religion ever conceived of.
Both theories portend serious problems for mankind. By beating each other up, we never end up discussing the troubling implications of both of these views.

If by "evolve" you mean simply to change over time, then yes, you are correct. But the evolution theory is just that, a theory. There is no shred of evidence to prove that it is true. However, there is evidence that God exists. It is impossible for our intricate, detailed, and exact world to have come about by chance. The odds are so insurmountably huge that something would have been screwed up somewhere along the way. But the earth itself is a good example of creationism. If it was one degree further from the sun, it would be too cold to support life. If it was one degree closer, it would burn up. How could that possibly come about by chance? I can't just accept both creationism and evolution. I have to accept the truth, that there is an almighty God that created everything!

no, we cannot all go home happy becuz it is not that simple! if it WAS that simple, we wouldn't be arguing about evolution vs. creation and you would have never even had to ask that question in the first place! God did not design mankind to evolve and evolution is not proof that God exists!God made the world and everything in it and did it all by himself. the end. NOW we can all go home happy......

Unfortunately it's not that simple. Various groups have their own reasons for clinging to Evolution or creation. For example, the acceptance of evolution (ie from the "big bang" to now) liberates one from all responsibility to a higher power and absolutes. Many people believe Evolution has to be factual because that was what they were told in school and have never tried to find out for themselves what they believe. Then there is creation, I am certainly a believer in Intelligent design by a loving God. There are those who reject all forms of evolution, including adaptation through natural selection. What many Intelligent design proponents fail to understand is that Natural Selection is process through which unacceptable/less ideal DNA is REMOVED from the gene pool. This creates subspecies and breeds of animals. I would argue for example that God created only one type of Dog, but over time natural selection caused Dogs that lived in different environments into slightly different sub species, this theory is supported by the hundreds of different types of canine that are all still one species since they can all interbreed and have offspring. Now I'm rambling, anyway....
The simple answer to your question is because we are not motivated by pure scientific reason, but by emotions, desires, and other all together illogical and nonobjective forces.

Intelligent Design is neither intelligent or even plausible. First, their is NO physical proof that God exists. Therefor, the argument stops right there. period. Evolution is based on scientific facts and findings. The religious right is just using the "Intelligent Design" propaganda to scare and seduce people back into the church because they are losing money due to poor service attendance.

Christians don't need evolution to be false - it doesn't matter to me whether God created the earth in 7 literal days or if he took 8 billion years to slowly evolve me.
But, Atheists need evolution to be true - otherwise their position is not intellectually viable. There is no way to explain the apparent design of the human body, the eye, even basic cellular organelles and DNA itself. Even down to its most basic components, life on this planet is irreducibly complex and appears to have been designed.
Perhaps that is why Atheists scream the loudest whenever Evolution is questioned. That is why Atheists mock and make fun of teachers who try to discuss both sides of the Evolution debate. They accuse them of pushing religion down student's throats when they merely want to expose the weaknesses of Darwin's theory - such as the fact that the fossil record doesn't support it, the myriad of hoaxes that have been put forth to "prove" evolution etc.

I agree with Autumnshadz; probably not a simple answer.
What if you looked at it this way? There are "how" questions and "why" questions. "How" questions are very interesting, but not often very important.
"Why" questions, though, are the important ones. I personally believe in God, so I'll approach it from that angle. Why did Creation haqppen? Why are we here? Etc., etc.
I sometimes wish that the public school system would spend less time teaching my kids what to think, and more why they should.

I agree. if GOD exists he sets the evolution but it will contradict the Biblical GOD.
THere is a confusion between ppl in who GOD is. GOD is a GOD or GOD is what bible says.
Primitive ppl INvent paint GOD in bible and assign all crimes and genocide to him. DO you think they can accept any evolution?
ANd who the hell said that we have only 2 choice? GOD or evolution?
How about GOD create elience and alience create alience and those alience create humans?
There are mo pocibilities than all religious ppl can even imagine.
Its pathetic how they say that if evolution can't be proved then GOD must created us. WOw , limited by thier own primitivity.
Therefore Stupidity=Infinity

If intelligent design were true, it would have said so in the Bible...that makes Evolution Pushers unhappy b/c it was one of their hollow hopes that God doesn't exist...
