if you feel that you will be responsible with them they are more work than glasses!!! I got contacts just b4 i turned 15, my parents were the ones who decided if i was responsible enough, and i proudly proved to them that i was and i still am

I started wearing contact lenses when I was 12 (I'm 16 now and I've never had any problems), so you should be fine. I have the ones that you replace every two weeks (as opposed to every year or every six months or whatever) so if I screw up when putting them on/lose them, it's still fine. It doesn't really take much 'responsibility' to wear contacts. Just remember to take them off, make sure you're not wearing them for too long, wash your hands before handling the lenses, etc. I thought they were much more convenient than glasses (I started wearing glasses when I was 11 and I just kept on misplacing them).

And sure, you can wear them occasionally. You just have to remember to replace them if you decide to buy the ones that can only be used for a shorter amount of time. And the doctor will probably recommend that you have both glasses and contacts anyway.

No, I'm 15 and I got fitted for conctacts about 3 months ago and right now I'm LOVIN them, but when I was at the Eye Doctors, the Eye Techs told me how they fitted an 8 year old with contact lenses, I thin you should get contacts now, just as long as you are responsible and you do what your supposed to do with the contacts your a good canidate. oh yea, you can wear your contacts all day, I usually wear mine for about 11 hours a day, but its important to take them of 2 hours before i goto sleep.

I hope so, my daughter has migraines and sometimes her glasses fall right on her nose and cause them or irritate them. We have her eyes checked once a year right before school starts. She is under 12 and we are going to see if she can't be fitted for contacts. I have contacted the eye doctor and was told as long as she was responsible and took care of them it should not be a problem...

When I inquired about this to my son's Dr., he told me that when my son is responsible enough not to lose regular glasses, and not break them (at the time he was 12yrs.old) that he'll be responsible enough to wear contacts, so he made him wear them for a yr. before he'll prescribe contacts, because he said there are a lot of infections that may occur if you don't properly clean your contacts, and remove them when you're suppose to, some infections could cause you to possible become blind in the infected eye/eyes. So as long as you're ready for the responsibility, and mature enough to do the right thing, I say go for it, with responsibility. Good luck.

wearing contacts is a big responsibility i think. i wear them, and i'm 16, and it's still a lot to do, to clean them, rinse, disinfect and all that. my friend was 14 and she was already wearing contacts, so i guess it's okay if your really tired of wearing glasses. i wear my glasses sometimes to give my eyes a break, but wearing glasses i think is A LOT easier than wearing contacts.

I started wearing contacts at 14. I didn't have any problems. Just make sure you take them out every night.

It shouldn't really matter, i think girls with glasses look sexy, well some do, if it's an image thing and you feel better wearing contacts, then do it. Couldn't tell ya if you looked better with glasses or not, don't know how you look.
