I am a Christian and have been all my life. But I get confused when people say "God is Love". What's with that? God does not love everyone. God is a completely holy God and he is just. People sin and sin is an abomination to God. He can love those that are saved because through Christ's sacrifice his chosen people are cleansed but those who are unsaved do not have that?

My Sunday School class is going through the video series "The Way of the Master" and they said on there that the past 1000 years, that's what the church has been teaching to make people feel better about it. I totally agree with you. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Christ say that if a good human father would punish his children, then why wouldn't the Father in Heaven do the same? He is love but He is also just.

I John 4:7-8 contains the phrase "God is love." God does in fact love the whole world, that means everyone. He is not willing that any should perish, i.e. die unrepentant.

One more thing, if you've been a Christian your entire life, when were you born again? And have you actually read the Bible?

God's love and mercy provided a way for His justice and holiness to be satisfied in the sacrifice of Christ. There is no contradiction with God.

John 3:16-17

16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

1 John 2:2

2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 John 4:8 and 16

8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love . . . 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

Romans 5:8

8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God loves everyone, sinners or not, they are all his creatures. It's like even when your child spills grape juice on your white carpet. You don't stop loving them, do you? God is always willing to accept anyone that is saved, no matter what sins they have committed in the past. It is an unconditional love. Sinners won't go to heaven, but God knows the world is the devil's playground and the devil is very manipulative.

God is love means that love is His nature. He created love, He's the Author of it. He DOES love everyone, even though were still sinners. He hates sin but loves the sinner. that's the whole reason why He sent His Son to die in our place just so that we can have a relationship with Him. God cannot be in the presence of sin, so if someone dies and never asked God to forgive them, they will face judgment and ultimately be put into hell. He gave us free choice as to receive or reject His love.

No. God does love everyone. He loved the whole world. Now, in instances where it says God hates, this is an anthropopathism (same with love, I might add) but hates here is a hyperbole. It means lack of favor. God will show mercy on whom he will, but He still is not willing that any should perish. Why? Because He loves them.

It's from people who want to believe in God, but don't, and are afraid to admit they're atheists.
They do believe in love, though, because they've experienced it and know it's real. It's a good way to weasel out of an argument, or to get Christians to stop preaching at you.

God is love because he gives everyone the chance to accept him. Jesus did not discriminate on who he would speak to and whose lives he would change. He dealt with the worst sinners of his day and he loved them all the same. God is love because he will accept you and is waiting for you no matter what you have done.

God loves all humans as seen at 2Peter 3:9: "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
Yes, he cares for all people.
