Politely offer them a breath mint or gum. If they are a true friend or family member, be honest with them...they may not know and there may be an underlying cause for the bad smell.

This is what you do:
Take a pack of gum out of your wallet and eat a piece. Then say, "would you like some?" Hopefully they'll say yes. If not, I don't know what to tell you. Just be straightforward.

If they're not a close friend, end the conversation ASAP. If they are, keep offering them mints.

Send them a package of dental floss and breath strips. Sign it "A friend"

As dear old dad used to say, "If someone offers you a breath mint, take it."

be honest. If their breath stinks tell them I do. You do not have to say it with an attitude just tell them.
