I find a yellow sediment at the bottom of some Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Dew, Vault and Vault Zero bottles in stores. How does it get there?

often i see that too, its the preservative used to maintain its freshness since its a fruit based product, you will see sodium benzoate in drinks, its the chemical used to preserve the foods even in canned foods, the problem is that in mt. dew it settles down because of the coldness of the drinks, you will see that there is no yellowish sediment under the bottle of mt.dew when they are not refrigerated, because the preservative maintain its solubility with the liquid, in order for sodium benzoate to retain its liquid form it needs high temperature, that the reason it returns to solid yellowish sediment when on cold temperature. Hope it brighten you up! Don't worry that sodium benzoate is tolerable and will not cause your death, its approved by health department if in the right amount and concentration! By the way mt.dew is my favorite drinks. Enjoy drinking!

I've had a similar experience.....I've noticed a few times on my Dt. Mt. Dew that there is something like you are describing on the inside side of the bottle.....and the bottle isn't past or near it's expiration date.....I've wonder about that as well.

it really is the colour of antifreeze and gatorade... a sickly yellow-eco-friendly. the version between yellow-eco-friendly and eco-friendly-yellow, in case you've not realized this from Crayola yet, is that the first colour of a joined colour call is the colour that's maximum contemporary. therefore, yellow-eco-friendly has extra yellow in it than eco-friendly... wish this allows!
