It is not wrong or a contradiction. Many scientists who study the evolution of species are Christians. Also, many prominent Christian figures (such as the Pope) have expressed their support for evolution.
The sentiment most often expressed by Christian scientists is:
"Science may explain the origins of the body, but only God can explain the origins of the soul."
Here's a link for the pope thing if you're interested:

Yes, it is wrong and it is a contradiction. Religions such as Christians teach the origin of men is from Adam and Eve who are created by God. The actual theory of Evolution as proposed by Darwinism is that all being exist by chance. Everything evolve by chance. Men evolve from monkeys. [A question for Darwinism; if men are from monkeys then monkeys are from what? A single cell?]. From scientific research, it is shown that even a single cell is so complex that it is difficult to say cell exist in this world just by chance.
Look at the theory of the beginning of life or universe. Scientists come up with the theory of "The Big Bang". But they cannot answer what is there before the big bang? [Note: I'm not against science and scientists. What I want to show here that even until now science still don't have all the answers to a lot of questions]

I just do not buy evolution. I am no scientist but I do have thoughts on many of the things that came out of so called evolutionary science...the main one being the world wide social darwinist movement when these scientists used phrenology to declaire people superrior/inferrior. It was also the precurser world wide to the murder of people with birth defects under the guise of peacful euthenasia and then the justification the Nazis used to commit horrendous crimes and mass murders. When Darwin and company took their famous voyageof the beagle, they classified species according to phenotype or appearance. While he and his cohorts basically founded what was to later be called the scientific method, their observations and classifications of species do not hold true to the genetics we understand today. Many species we assumed were related and from the same "branch" based on evolution have been found to not be related at all thanks to advances made in molecular biology. Microorganisms seem to be able to adapt and mutate...however, I would hardly call this evolving. If evolution is factual, how come species world wide are not changing to become more efficient with global warming. If survival of the fittest hold up, how come more powerful predatory animals from prehistoric times succumbed and less powerful species remain...How is this a function of evolution. Has it occurred to anyone that God created several species and living creatures....Dinosaurs, etc...that might have been on the earth simultaneously and were perhaps killed as a result of the great flood. I hope God has a sense of humor and is getting a good laugh at these so called great scientific minds. Okay, I am now putting away my soap box.

First off, Science has no buisness asking me to 'believe in' anything. It can either prove it or it can't. The Theory of Evolution is an elegant theory and it may even show one way that life could have become what it is. The Theory of Evolution, however has not been proven to be THE way life came to be what it is.
In fact in a hundred years or so we may have a different Theory of Evolution than we have now. The Theory of Evolution is still in it's early stages as far as scientific theories go. Still being built, refined. Every bit of evidence is still being used to complete the puzzle of evolution. No scientist has yet gone on to the next step, that of trying to DISPROVE it. Of trying to create an alternate theory. Yes, in Science one of the most important steps is that of attempting to disprove a theory.
The Theory of Evolution is a very popular scientific theory, popular too with the pubilc. That does not make it correct. Nor does that make it the only way life could have happened. It makes it one possible way. Unless and until we can actually observe, under double blind conditions, life arising in the self same way stated in The Theory of Evolution, then it cannot be stated as being the "One True Way" life came to be.
Not Scientifically anyway. If you want to put your FAITH in an unproven theory, that's your choice but be aware that it is faith you are placing, not fact.
Evolutionary Adaptation, that does happen. We can see it and I'm certain that an All Knowing God would have designed a certain amount of flexibility into His Creation, otherwise it'd be too brittle and shatter.
So is is a contradiction for a Christian to believe in evolution? How could it possibly be? In seeking truth we accept facts. Science, at it's best, attempts to provide facts, provable, repeatable, facts. In believing in Christ, we take that leap of faith.
My faith is in Christ.
Science has no business asking for my faith. Either it can prove it or not. What science can prove, is objective fact. In loving truth, I also love objective facts. In being a critical, independent thinker, I am able to seperate fact from theory.
Science must prove. Faith requires that I believe.

I believe human beings are taller than their ancestors were in the 19th century due to better nutrition and a more balanced lifestyle. In that sense, evolution is true in that we adapt to better environments. I once took a class where we considered the possibility that God used controlled evolution to create the world. Another possibility is that God used parts of other planets to create this world. Yet another possibility is that the dinosaurs were very carefully controlled to provide this earth with fossil fuels to get ready for all of the developments of history - including these latter days, but that wasn't included in the Bible because the dinosaurs weren't human beings. Yet another possibility is that - as shown on Christian TV - everyone's carbon dating is inaccurate, and we should stop trying to nail down ages of rocks and fossils and concentrate on growing spiritually and socially instead. There are too many problems in the world to keep arguing about who's right and who's wrong. Have a happy day!

No dude. The bible doesn't contain everything. God created the laws of nature and it doesn't say a whole lot of stuff that went on because that stuff doesn't matter to us spiritually. I don't fully believe in evolution (Like I evolved from a monkey or whatnot) but I believe species do evolve slightly. Like some people have brown skin some have white. But we are all still people. Some cows have long horns some have short but they are still cows.. The bible doesn't say how long Adam and eve wandered around in the garden before the first sin, it could have been millions of years with stuff evolving all over the earth. Heck the bible may have only started Adams age after the fall (sin). There is so much we don't know, but hey Jesus ain't about finding everything out for sure, He's not about what other people think about you, Don't worry if somebody says you can't believe like you do. Jesus loves you Bro, as long as you have faith that he is the one who died for your sins and you invite him in to be your Lord and Savior, everything else doesn't matter. Remember Jesus once said "with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Keep the faith you have and don't sweat the small stuff.

What people always misconstrue is the 'Biblical contradiction' that they never take a second glance at. I'm a believer who knows that God's seven days and ours may be completely different. Like one day could be a million years. Time was put into a metaphor for human perception to understand. Both creation and evolution could coincide or else God wouldn't have left all of that evidence behind for us to find.

It is contradictory to believe in the falseness of evolution as a basis for all life, when it states quite clearly in Genesis that God created all things...even man from the clay of the Earth. Had man "evolved from apes", there would have been no need for God to "breathe life into him" when he made man.
Evolution is a tool of Satan to devalue people into something less than they actually are; Children of God.
Even Darwin renounced his ideas of evolution on his death bed, yet the scientific community would not acknowledge that because it was easier to prove a mutation as a source of evoltion than to admit there was a God, and that evolution was a busted idea.

No it is not. I am a Christian and I think the theory of evolutions is correct. Religion and science never contradict. Just keep them separate.

Because of this question I have read a lot of articles and have come up with no definite answer. I (as a christian) do believe in evolution. I have listed below 2 sites with interesting articles and different points of view. Though they have different opinions on this, there are many similarities in the articles.
