The quickest way is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohal, and sodas.
Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up.
In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight)
Practice portion control. Yes, you'll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won't have that feeling anymore.
Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.)
Go exercise for at least an hour a day, incorporating weight training. Weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat. You get the idea. It also gives tone and definition.
Good luck!!

What is your age???
Generally you gain weight because of fats deposits, just dissolve them. How?
People go for losing weight by pills or starving.
Pills do not act effectively and for longer durations. Pills have many side effects for your health.
Starving weakens you and your defense system is also weakened. This makes you less resistant against infactions and other diseases.
The best way is to lose weight by change of diet and your physical activities.
1. Reduce or stop to take oils and fats.
2. Stop taking sugar and glucose. (Mainly tea, coffee & cold drinks.
3. Stop taking potato, rice.
4. Reduce wheat and corn as much as possible.
Take vegitables, boiled meat, fruits (even sweet).
And at the top of all:
Play physical games or Walk, as your age allows, at least 40 to 60 minutes twice a day.
You will start losing weight to the extent of daily difference.

You should also include weight training and flexibility workouts. Francesca Gern has a wonderful weight training video, Weights I and II. Power yoga is a great cardio workout that increases flexibility. Flexibility and strength are extremely important so you don't injure yourself in your other workouts.
Also try to eat more fruits, veggies, and whole grains and cut down a bit on the meat. Watch your portions. Talk to your doctor. Any diet that says any one of the food groups is bad for you is extreme and not all that healthy. Everything in moderation.

I follow the 40/30/30 diet. It helps you eat properly, normal foods (I mean no junk), and you loose weight with out loss of muscle tissue. No matter what diet you use, make sure you are moving your body in some way
