1, buy a pesonal alarm.
2, get a lift.
3, relise that most street attacks happen to young men. not women.

note: stun guns, pepper spary ect are illigal wepons in the uk. so if you do use one, chuck it over a hedge or somthing to get rid of the evidance.

It's a sad state of affairs in society today, but if you are a single female walking home at night alone when it's dark then you are putting yourself at risk. Add to this the fact that you no doubt appear nervous, that risk is even greater.

The best way to alleviate this is to get a lift from a friend or a cab. Even public transport is preferable because at least there will be other people around.

If you have no option but to walk, PLEASE make sure you tell someone when you are leaving your work and what time you should be home. If necessary, get someone from work to call you to check you got home ok. Carry an alarm and keep your hand on your mobile if you have one.

First of all, if you can, get someone to walk with you. Studies show that if two people are together they are 82% less likely to be attacked. Now if you can't then, the best you can do is to prepare yourself. Always have the emergency numbers on speed dial. Carry a pepper spray. If there is an emergency and all the above fail, then don't panic and relax. You may be extremely paniced from inside but don't let it show. And if all above fail, always try to convince the person to not kill you. It sounds dumb but it has worked on many people. Many people actually convinced their killers not to kill them. But I hope you never have to go through that situation!

there's no point in putting some hairspray in Ur handbag, as u wouldn't have the time to reach 4 it. alarms are pointless no one helps anyway. u could be dying in London and they would still walk passed. Get another person to walk home with U or take a taxi. if u do drive even better. otherwise get Ur company to pay 4 a cab. if there not 2 stingy OK.

Use jogging shoes, not heels. Have a can of mace with you. Walk in lighted areas. Have a personal alarm. Take self defense lessons. Try getting someone to walk with you. Don't always take the same route home. Take note of the surroundings. Be aware of things around you.
BE SAFE.

You can get little alarms that you pull a string and it sets off a really loud alarm that will scare off anyone. Never carry weapons as you can get itno so much trouble even if you know you will never use them. If you cant find the alarms then take a loud whistle with you, keep it at the ready at all times when you are walking alone.

if you really have to walk home, try to look as if you're confident as people are more likely to attack peeps who look nervous. Wear shoes you can run in. Keys in between your fingers helps and try to go to classes. Don't listen to earphones or chat on ur phone as someone will know you have something to steal. Always be aware.
If you can't walk with someoneor get a lift, try to vary your route.
And ask your work about staff taxis

Simple-stop walking home alone at night. You have reason to worry. You walk late in the night on the same streets at the same time regularly. You are almost guaranteed to be attacked. Smarten up!
