If you were in hit-skip or have any accident reconstruction training, try finding an opening as an insurance investigator. They easily make 6 figures and always want to hire ex law enforcement.

If you want to make any real money, and would like to enjoy your life at all, don't start a security company or become a PI.

Depends on how old you are. If you're fairly young, say 30's, you might want to try the FBI, see if you can get into the Academy and become an agent. If not, maybe you want to go into teaching or training other detectives.

If you are looking to make a lot of money try going to Iraq as a Security Consultant. They make right around $120,000/ year. Depending on the location they only have minimal crime to deal with and meet w/ forces twice a month to discuss base security.
