Circumcision was the rite of initiation into God's old covenant with His people. Christ came to establish the new covenant and the new initiation rite, which replaces the old is baptism.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.
Galatians 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Colossians 2:11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not administered by hand, by stripping off the carnal body, with the circumcision of Christ.
12
You were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
1 Peter 3:20 who had once been disobedient while God patiently waited in the days of Noah during the building of the ark, in which a few persons, eight in all, were saved through water.
21
This prefigured baptism, which saves you now.

We are no longer desert living nomads without running water... I mean guys just wash yourself, have a shower every day.
Thank goodness I don't have an ugly scarred up penis, with a desensitised & dry, flaky looking head on it and requiring artificial lubrication to have any kind of sex whether masturbation or intercourse.
We can all do without those signs, and they are the lucky ones who didn't get severe infections or have too much flesh removed making erection impossible or painful...
And you can always push the foreskin back and wear it like that...so versatile! (LOL) kind of makes circumcision redundant.
Though seriously genital mutilation is no laughing matter, don't do it to your sons just because it was done to you, there are no health benefits regarding std's that a condom doesn't provide better, and if you are in a monogamous relationship or married there are no health benefits at all to be gained from circumcision.

Circumcision was an outward sign of faith for the Jews. The NT and most important the Apostle Paul said that it was important for the heart to be circumcised.

Jesus is asserted to have stated circumcision truly once: Jesus responded and reported to them, "I did one artwork, and also you all marvel. "Moses hence gave you circumcision (no longer that that is from Moses, yet from the fathers), and also you circumcise a guy on the Sabbath. "If a guy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so as that the regulation of Moses might want to no longer be damaged, are you offended with Me because I made a guy thoroughly nicely on the Sabbath?" John 7 21-23 what's exciting is that he speaks of circumcision contained in the 2d individual, as if it has no longer something to do with him, and he contrasts circumcision with therapeutic, emphasising that that is an damage, besides as an celebration of over-zealous regulation-protecting.

Only the Jews were to be circumcised. They were to be set aside from the gentiles. It is not a requirement for Christians to be circumcised.

Because it's not about the physical state of the child, it's about the symbolism of the committment. It's an affirmative decision by the parents to be obedient to God's command. It's symbolic of being one of God's chosen people.

Then it defeats the point of circumcision. The point was not to remove the foreskin. The point was to signify a difference in God's people.

I think it was meant as a sign to set apart His chosen people (the Israelites). It was a ceremonial ritual, and applied only to those people in that time. I doubt if it is meant for people today, but many still practice it. Apparently, they also believe it is valuable for hygiene reasons today.

Well, back in those days, it was a symbol between the man and God of his devotion and obedience, but good question.

Who can know the will, mind and intent of God? You're asking the wrong people.
