Do the people on this site find that the anonimity it grants helps them to be honest ? for example, when answering a heartfelt question do you elaborate more than you normaly would with a stranger, showing a little more of the real you or, is the temptation for bravado to strong to overcome for some?

When I answer those kinds of questions, I try to be as honest and caring about that persons feelings,as much as I can. I would want someone to answer my questions the same way. I think when people talk to strangers its easier because they don't know them and they feel they cant judge them.

I am normally an open person, but, I do have to admit I like the idea of anonymity. I think I may be able to help someone easier if I'm not personally involved, I don't have as many preconceived ideas about the person. I just try to be really honest, and give my perspective.

From some of the answers I've seen, bravado, does seem to overcome many. That's not always bad, some people need to hear it. I have more problems with some of the incredibly ignorant questions. I just try to ignore them, because, I think a lot of good can come of a forum like this.

I am naturally an very open person but I admit that the fact that I don't know the people on here does let me expose myself to strangers more than I normally would.

Although I think relating to a problem can let the person see they aren't alone with their problems everyone has problems.

It can in some instances but for most others I feel drawn to get to know them more personally...I don't think my opinion and thoughts would change much if I knew them or they I...it would just allow me to differentiate who I was talking to ...where as I may have answered many questions from the same person but very seldom read their chosen name...

I think it honestly helps you to remember your own experiences and mistakes and help others with their problems. Sometimes you think that others questions are silly or just over exaggerated but they have never had to deal with them before. They are big to them and this is a great way to remember the road that you have traveled and how lucky you are.
