The problem is that acouple years back my husband got busted with a little bag of cocaine(mainly the residue) and had to pay these huge fines and was on probation...will this affect us in any way if one day we plan to adopt...will we be denied because of this??? His probation is over and he has also completed drug counseling the court requested...The drugs werent even his but they were found in his car so ofcourse he was responsible for them..anyway, weve been trying to conceive for about 7 months now and nothing...so adoption is something i might want to do. will we be able to?

7 months isn't anything when trying to get pregnant. First go to the doctor and get checked out, both you and your husband. My doctor wouldn't see me for fertility problems until I tried for over a year but every doctor is different. Don't give up, keep trying.

Adoption is a good idea and there are lots of children in the world that need a good home but I know adoption agengies are very strict when it comes criminal backgrounds. They may see this as "a red flag". My friend has gone through the whole adoption process(without ever adopting a child), I know they sent a packet to all her employers, friends & family for them to fill out about that persons character. They went to her home several times to inspect it. They did interviews with all that knew her. Both her and her husband had to get complete physicals, did psychologicals on the whole family and ran extensive background checks.

That was the agency she went through. Not sure if all are the same. Call around, talk with them. My advice for you right now is to keep trying to get pregnant. GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES!!

It depends on a lot of things, including what he was convicted of, as well as where you live.
But what you need to know is that there are two kinds of adoption: private adoption and those through public agencies. When you adopt through a state agency, which will do a background check, that's when your husband's record may be an issue (or it might not).
If you do a private adoption, which is just between you and the baby's birth parents, maybe through some kind of private adoption agency, they may not make an issue of his record.
The point is, there are many ways to adopt children, don't rule yourself out for one indiscretion :)

If he has a felony conviction, it may be hard to adopt. I think it's better to be completely honest with the agency from the start so you'll know where you stand and you won't put out money for nothing. Good luck!

I would say it mostly depends upon the laws in your state. You may want to consult with an attorney who specializes in adoption law.

It'll probably be a mark against you and you will have to really prove yourself in court, but just make it work.
