i really want to and this is a fairly new and unexplored area, but i'm not sure. i'm really interested in it but there are A LOT of risks..

Positives:
advances in science nd medicine
advances in evolution
save lives
cure diseases
extend lives
nd other stuff that i dont remember right now

Negatives:
REALLY RISKY
people and/or animals could die during the experimental process <-- BIGGEST BUT PROBABLY THE ONLY RISK

When u feel strongly abt it Jess, go for it!you know there are risks involved in everything but u know what, once u do something u r passionate abt, u get interested and confidant abt ur work, then chances of ppl/animals dying are minimal.

Take it this way, when ppl larn to drive, dont they know that one error on their part can kill lives>>>>but they still learn it and drive cautiously.Genetic engineering on this level is no different.Once u r careful, there is hardly any chance of failure.Plus concentrate on the positives and things would be much better for the entire species on this planet.

I wish u all the very best!!

I'd say go for it, the benefits could far outweigh the animals that die in the process. You're not blinding them with acid to test a make-up for god's sake. It's for medical advances.

I'd suggest that you ask that question under "biology" rather than "engineering" to get knowledgeable answers. People who "engineer" a bank job are not (necessarily) engineers and people who "engineer" genetics are likely biologists. Best of luck!

oh screw the animals. they're gonna die eventually, and you'll do your best to see that they come to no harm. it's what scientists do. remember animals in distress give you bad data.

i agree with shiara_blade its what you feel like doing.. science has progressed so much only through these experiments and "risky deaths"
