good question, lemme first tell you what happens :
a very high range laser beam is used to make nanometere like holes or adjustments in the human eye lens / retinal screen ,in order to focus the image exactly on the retinal screen or spot.It requires very high precision and a very very very skilled surgeon since a hit n miss of even 1 nanometer spells a disaster of loss of eyesight or worsening, due to this factor ,lots of research is made both on the docs and patients part before the venture. Since this surgery is not invasive, no anaesthesia req, has a very short recivery time, painless and somewhat affordable ,is all rage now.
However ,you need to do thorough search ,do yr homework before finalising on one ,keep in mind the pros and the CONS! there have been 2 cases of failure wherein people have lost eyesight/ gotten worse in total cases of 50 operations .
Its all up to you in the end,not we yahoo people here, exercise extreme caution ,its best suited if you quench short term results!
all the best!! Contact me if you have further q's.

This experience is not mine, but my science teacher had a laser eye surgery few months ago. Not trying to scare you, but she has been having lot of pain in her eyes ever since, she says she can't concentrate on things for more than few minutes because her eyes feel like somebody is poking them. Also her eyes stays red and swollen most of the time. That might have been just the doctor but now she is going to another doc. for her eye checkup. When i saw her recently, she looked much better. Just have a long talk about the side effects the surgery may cause you. Otherwise, it is great.

I went thru it. I had retinopathy, meaning my retina was covered with blood leakge from tiny vessels, and my one eye was totaly blind.
I used to see people's face very small and distorted.

Doctors first take picture of the eye by injecting a dye thru vein, and determine the amount of laser dose to burn out the blood.

They shoot laser rays into your eyes. It is not painful, but the intensity of the light is so great that you can not keep your eyes open. Half an hour before shooting laser , they dialate your eyes with eye drops, so you can not keep eyes open on a cloudy day.
Sunshine makes it even harder. you have to hold someone's hand to walk, for 2-3 hours.

They again take picture to find out the effect, and repeat if necessary. It takes time to get back your vision, usualy 6 weeks..

I do not have blind eye anymore, I see with both eyes.
Hope this helps you.

not sure what you wanted to know...I had mine back in 2000...no glasses since and was VERY near-sighted (glasses then contacts from age 5 to then...age 42!)...not perfect today, over 6 years later, but still lots better than before! Dryness and earlier presbyopia (need for reading glasses for up close eye use) are the main "side effects" hope that helps you!

GOOD LUCK!!

I know of 3 people who have had it. Only one person had to go back to glasses because she strains her eyes too much. My best friend just had it done on Friday and she called me crying on saturday because she was so happy that she could SEE things.... like individual leaves on trees.

Do your research! Find out who's got the best reputation in the area!
