Since guys are typically taller than women, if you come across a guy and girl of the same height, the guy is likely "petite" in both height and weight. Add to that the fact that women are curvier and naturally carry more fat, and it may appear (and be true) that the girl is bigger than the guy.

Our eyes are trained and deliver to the brain specific messages!
Thus, a 6' man is just tall, a woman should be a basketball player! A man on you height is OK, a woman is too tall!
Also, our eyes, due to certain geometric specs deliver messages that the brain understands them in a strange way! For example, if you stand and look down on a long (mile or so) street with high buildings, we think that the buildings are closer at the tops than at the bottom! Similarly, when we look at certain curves, our eyes see them differently than they are, thus our brain works them differently!

Probably because girls are slimmer. If two people are of equal height the slimmer one will appear taller.
Or girls all wear horizontal stripes. Either one.
