yes, he did do stupid things but he used so much vocabulary when he spoke and it may have sounded stupid because of the lisp. but i think even though he dropped out of school in 4th grade he had a superior vocabulary compared to many others. using such descriptive and high vocab when speaking from reading. Do you think he had a high iq?

I don't know about him being intelligent in general. It seems he made some very foolish choices in his life, but there are reasons for that too that I don't fully know.

All I do know is that Mike was very educated about boxing - not just how to fight but the whole history of the sport and even how boxing fit into world events at the time. I've heard him do commentary where he explains exactly what the boxer is trying to do and what he's about to do. That means two things: that he both is capable of the tremendous amount of knowledge necessary for that and that he does have the linguistic clarity to share that knowledge with other people. I also have a video about the history of boxing (I forgot which one) where he's doing the narration. It's very informative, and the fluid phrases show that he's definitely far above at least Rocky Balboa.

Yeah, he does sometimes use certain words that just stand out, but that's not necessarily indicative of a high IQ. That just means he was trying to learn new things and improve himself. I personally have a lot of respect for him for that, but I don't know how much he's retained after so many years in the ring. Continuing to fight after one's prime can really dull a boxer's mind.

Superior vocabulary? I think the Tyson chickens have more brains! Using long words incorrectly in poorly-thought-out sentences is not a sign of intelligence.

Smart people do not rape young women in their hotel rooms when the press is hanging out all around them.

In boxing terms, Yes. He is a fine historian and analyst of the game of boxing, a very good strategist. You ask me what is a high IQ as opposed to common sense.

I don't think he is very intelligent, but he has been around so he does know a lot about the world. I would call him "street smart".
