and alot of those people might live after that and believe in God their people like that that have writtin books about it. trust me and If your an athiest dont bullshit me with sayin you wouldnt cuz apprtly you dont know wht ud do until it happens. I have had people even say most of the athiest they knew that were on their death bed cried out to God, Wonders of what near death can do wouldnt you say?

What was the question?

Okay, but there are also a lot of people who came close to death who were religious, and turned away from religion. It works both ways. What you've done here is take a very few instances, taken a stat that you can't substantiate because no true study has really been done, and made a gernalization that you can't support with facts. You also forgot to check out other facts, or to seek out studies, objective opinions, or to find out whether this has worked the other way where religious people turn atheist.

Unfortunately, for the large percentage of people who do have a "death bed", but go suddenly without warning or preparation, there is no opportunity for them to look for God one last time. That is why people need to be sure about their faith before hand. If there is any doubt, or question about God's existence, then they need guess him one more time. May I recommend a book that might help you with those questions. One that does not "preach" or quote scriptures (I think he mentions one Bible verse in the entire book). It comes from a man who was a long time atheist until one day his faith was guessed by a fellow college professor, J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings author) It is a small book called "Mere Christianity" by Chronicles of Narnia author C.S. Lewis.

First of all, how could you possibly know what 99% of Athiests are thinking on their deathbed? That was just a ridiculous thing to say. Second, you really need to work on your english. Most of what you just said didn't make any sense. It's really hard to take your question seriously when you sound like a complete moron.

Lets think in this way, if people believe God just because of the fear, then they are the true atheist. On the other hand, an atheist who also knows that God wont punish just because of his disbelief (otherwise He cannot be a God) is a pure theist (if he have not got feared of him). So tell me that whether there is any true theist ? (in this world.).

Trying to prove your point by making ludicrous claims (like you've spent so much time with atheists on their deathbeds, or studied the "phenomenon" of atheists on their deathbeds) just makes you look silly. I hope people reading this don't think you speak for all believers, because you sure don't speak for me.

If you want to preach, there are better ways to do it. Bashing people over the head with silly posts like this just make people turn further away because it makes believers look like simpletons.

Hello CL C.. :)

I worked in a nursing home..there were some that asked me to pray with them, when they knew it was time for them to depart, when they died, there was such a peaceful look upon their faces..

The ones that did not want to, or did not have the time to ask Jesus into their hearts, died with shock and horror on their faces..

I cannot and never will forget, the their faces..some like angels..and others with so much fear..

I have not been sent to judge anyone..

I have been sent to spread the Love, Peace and Forgiveness, that God will give unto all that ask, through His only Son Jesus.. :)

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ..

I'm a christian, so I don't think I am the person you want to answer. But I agree with you. I believe sooner or later you are going to realize you must believe in something. I just pray it's the right thing.

I have always wondered if Madelyn Murray O'hare prayed when she knew she was being murdered. I bet she did. I don't really understand how atheists can truly not believe, I've always suspected they didn't want to believe. See if they don't believe there are no guilty consciences, no morals to uphold, no consequences. But of course when they near death, they face their future and can no longer deny Him.

From where did you "learn" this information? It sounds like wishful speculation to me. Anecdotal evidence is evidence of anecdotes, it is not verifiable evidence of actual phenomena.

Grandma_susie: Madalyn Murray-O'Hair was killed by three Christians, one of whom tortured her by cutting off her fingers while she was alive. Her, her son, and her granddaughter were killed by these three Christians. I don't think she was going to pray to the God they followed.

Freikygee: Theos is Greek, not Hebrew. Folk etymology is not a valid substitute for actual word origins. Atheist means, basically, "not a theist". You can find it in almost any dictionary.
