You are very correct and I agree with you. The splintering away is a result of people who did not accept the teachings of the Catholic church. Some did not believe Jesus was truly the Son of God, only a prophet because He didn't meet their hopes and ideas for the promised Messiah. Some do not accept that the Blessed Trinity is God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and actually came to understand that the Catholic church was worshipping a false God in their understanding of the Triune God. Many had problems with Catholics "worshipping Mary" and putting her above Jesus Christ which is not true but there are many things that factor into this splitting off from the Catholic church, and then due to some really bad abuses by the Church during the time of the reformation, Martin Luther tried to correct and change things and so splintered off. There have been many wonderful Saints who fought against heresy and schism and Thank God, the Church pulled through these trying times. I wouldn't worry about this because it is God who is in charge and He fills His Church with the Holy Spirit and God can and does make so many good things happen through even the worst of situations and people and times. I even might mention that there are many "so called" Catholics today who are not truly Catholic because they pick and choose just what they will believe and what they will not, not accepting of all the teachings of the Magesterium. Some do not accept the teachings of the "Real Presence" in the Most Holy Eucharist, some do not follow the teachings of the Church in regard to many of the modern day social issues, are pro abortion, pro gay rights, etc so there is still today much needing to be done within the Church to bring it (and everyone) back to the one true Church. What I believe is not good is for people to give up and go elsewhere due to all these things, rather than stay within the Church and pray and do all they can to change things from within. God has His Holy Spirit guiding our Holy Mother Church and all will be well. God Bless You in the name of The Father, Son and The Holy Spirit and may our Blessed Mother keep you always in her prayers that you may be brought ever closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. Amen

Umm well to be fair, before the Catholics, there was Zoroastrianism, the Greco-Roman religions, the various Celtic, Nordic, Teutonic and Baltic religions. And thats just in the west, what about the eastern religions of Buddhism, Hinduism and Shinto? There has never been only one faith. Thats the thing.
Human beings are just too different to believe in one thing. The sooner people accept that, the less religion will be a call for war and intolerance, and maybe a source for intelligent debate.
Wouldn't that be nice! I have never understood why some people have to be wrong and some have to be right on an issue that is clearly personal.

Have learnt that if we look at the world
religious history of 5000 years, we see that Islam came about 2500years ago through Ibrahim fol owed by Buddhism about2250years ago, and then came Christ about 2000years ago. After that came Muslim religion about1800 years ago through
Mohamed
and then Sanyas religion about 1500 years ago through
Shankeracharya
and Sikhism
hrough Nanak about 500years ago.
It means we knew about GOD only during the last 2500 years through different religions. ouestion arises weather there was any God or religion before it? They say that there was One Religion ,.
One formless GODand this position remained for eouall 2500 years earlier to it.during acycle of 5000 years. Now again the old position is going to be restored by the Almighty very very soon, when there will be one World religion, one world government, one God aaaaand all the few people will be god and goddeses. There will be Peace Prosperity and Purity in that World.

We don't believe in the same God, roman catholic has doctrines and so are different denominations. I don't believe in idol worship and processions and praying with beads and many things that I find are way interpretation of things like purgatory and relic worship...sorry I was a Catholic once, my whole family was a devout Catholic but we turn away from it when we realized the meanings of scriptures and that's my personal experiences; and that's not attacking RCC.

God is one (how many denominations really teach this)?
There is a conjuction of charity and faith (how many denoms teach this)?
OK. Now how many teach both? Not many! But Christianity is monotheism and faith is not apart from good. Until denominations agree on the major points, the minor points are not going to come into agreement either.

There was Christianity long before there was Constantine. The main religion for a long time was Christianity. If we'd all just listen to Jesus Christ, our religion would still be Christianity.
Of course, we are all too stubborn and full of pride for that, aren't we?

There has always been more than one flavor of Christianity, even if you go all the way back to the first century.
