It's apparent that many of you didn't bother reading passed the title of the home page to which I provide a link as a part of my question.
That's quite revealing indeed.

Who said that I was an "Atheist for Jesus?" I'm just asking for your opinion about something I found while surfing! Gee!

Ok! For those who don't seem to get it, gathering from the sights, I conclude that some people think of Jesus as being pretty cool. They enjoy studying the Bible matter to get to the bottom of what he did and said. They don't believe in God, therefore they don't believe that Jesus was any God.
Bottom line: Belief in God is not a requirement for thinking of Jesus as being pretty cool.

It seems to be that since the success of " The Da Vinci Code " - I keep my opinion about the subject - became trendy to discuss about the life of Jesus.
Nothing new, nothing original: just think about the film " The last temptation of Christ " and then make your own connections..." and thousands of other expressions of doubts about the Dogma of Christ.
Sure, Jesus was an exceptional man, that is one of the basis from the Christianism and Catholicism.
Believing or not in the Dogmas from the Catholic Church goes beyond anything that I could write here in this answer. Easily summarized, Faith is something that you do not question.
If somebody is intending to study any phenomen that happened more than 2000 years ago, moreover if is about somebody's personality, for sure many controversies are going to appear. Only try to make a tiny survey between your friends and family about what do they think about you, and you will be surprised.
Considering the amount of Catholic people in the world, plus the Christians, is truly relevant to conduct a deep research about a person that became such a Myth ?- under the non religious people - or just accept that we all have the right to choose our believes and live together without trying to find out which religion is the real one ?
Trying to change people's minds rarely works.
Internet is a real Pandora box where I love to dig and find big trash as well as pretty interesting information.
As a conclusion of my long answer, I would like to confirm what can be assumed through my way of writing in English: I am not living in the US and less native from your country. Many of the political situations that happens in the US are quite interesting to me because of the consequences that the decisions of your Government can have over the planet.
Weather if considered as a religion or not, any sort of fanatism is a good source of intolerance and ultimately violence.
Using a religion with political intentions is also not original at all, adapting a text as the Bible, that for many centuries was not written but transmitted from person to person is also nothing exceptional.
What pays my attention is the difference between the vision of the humanity along the centuries.
Do you really think that we are evoluting just because we can question our moral or political authorities?
I believe that morally and intellectually the humanity is getting further from advancing.....
-sorry for my spelling mistakes, the Spellcheck does not work.-

Okay, let me try to explain. I don't believe in God, and I don't believe Jesus was the son of God. I'm not atheist, though. I do believe in something beyond us, but I'm not going to get into that here.
Anyway, I view Jesus as a great philosopher. Much the same way I view Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates (and note that all three of them were religious teachers, much as Jesus was, it's just that their religions have died out, so now we view them only with ethical and moral views, not religious over-tones, even though in their day they were viewed much the same way Jesus was, and is today. Basically, if Christianity were to ever die out, Jesus would be viewed exactly the same way the other three are today.).

That site is pretty much awesome.
Well done, Ken Schei.
Obviously people are going to assume you are an Atheist who believes Jesus Was God. But those are the people most likely haven't read anything about AFJ.
I read it, I commend you for your insight and research.
I think the possibility to be an "Atheist for Jesus" is perfectly plausible, even the best way for anyone to interpret the New Testament.

You are a walking contradiction! You can not believe in Jesus if you say you are atheist. For Jesus is God in the flesh! John 14:9 tells us of these things. There are also other scriptures that support that. Read up!

Now hang on folks. This one isn't as bad as some of you are making it. After all, Jesus was not only the "Son of God", but also a teacher, philosopher, lawgiver, and leader. So, maybe these hypothetical "Atheists for Jesus", would focus on those aspects of his ministry, and less on the more fantastic stuff. Actually, a similar situation exists around the scholarly study of Moses. Most scholars choose to completely ignore the miracles, and focus more on his accomplishments and significance as lawgiver and leader.

The fact that atheists recognize Jesus as a great MAN is not a surprise. If Jesus was alive today he would be a liberal and appalled at what had been done in his name. To think Jesus would support tax cuts for the rich, the war in Iraq, condemnation of his fellow man, (gays,) the destruction of the environment, nationalism and everything else conservatives stand for, is to not have listened to a word he said.

Unless I'm wrong that the fundamental of "atheism" is that there is no god, this is rather impossible. They claim Jesus to have been an advocate for God, and quote scripture,..but if there is no god, scripture is meaningless, and if Jesus was mere man, as they claim, then why listen to his teaching above Paul's? It just doesn't make sense. And furthermore, they say that Jesus said that you just need to live a good life and do good works to get into heaven, using the verse "faith without works is dead," ignoring the you've got to have "faith" aspect of it all! Jesus also said, in John 10:30, "I and the Father are One," referring to God the father, and in the same gospel, John- who was the "disciple whom Jesus loved," one of the original 12 apostles- says about Jesus (in ch.1 v.12), "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." That, to me, says you have to have faith in Him. When you have faith, works should follow.

How is that possible?
Well, maybe it is. So many have reduced Him to just a man. I guess you could believe in the Man, Jesus. Deny His divinity. And still be an atheist. Since now He's not your God.

I am a Christian, and I think this group/individual is somewhat true.
Yes, I agree that the President has messed up. And he could do better with the whole Christian thing. But I'm not too keen on politics.
I will probably come back and add more to my answer later.

I'm a little confused, do these people believe in God, but just not that Jesus was him? Or are they truly atheists and don't believe in God at all?
