Western Culture has for a long time not placed much relevance on relegion as say countries like Poland or Slovakia or even the Ukrain. All these countries were under the thumb of Marxist/Lennonist Directives for most of the 1900's and the church became in many countries a place of refuge and one of strength against often insurmountable odd's. Think back to WWII and the Concentration Camps. The RC Church has produced men and women who were nothing special and because of a given situation found unbeleivable courage where before there was nothing.
If you however visit churches here in the West, such as Polish Parish's, it will not take you long to understand that it was the simple faith of Prayer and Devotion that spurned on the faith brought with many from the East to the West. Only in very rare situations has that faith been put to the test here in the West, as opposed to those in the East where faith is in many ways tested daily, even today.
Our faith though is being tested by those who would see an end to prayer at school, or any public function. Our faith is tested because some are always bashing this relegious group, or this social group because of thier activities or beleifs. You don't need to look far because right here on Answers regular bashing occures to catholics and the gay communities. Splinter groups rise and fall as each new morality is tried and tested.
Relegion is important...to some in the west, but for others it is just a target to abuse, and many in the west just would much sooner not become involied, thus the relevance of relegion falls to the wayside.
Does this help you understand better?
Blessings.
Bp. David

Actually, that's not true. More of a percentage of the population of the United States than ever before are members of churches. People are joining churches left and right all over the place. So I don't think religion is less relevant at all.

I don't believe that it is. 200 years ago, the US was much more secular than it is today. Hardly anyone even went to church. All the religious jabber was just part of the culture, not something most people took to heart.

Alot has to do with scientific advances (theory of evolution), the speed that people live their lives (can't enjoy God's creation), and the concept we have now where the minority rules and not the majority.

Satan is getting to us. He has changed the government. Incase you haven't noticed, the government does lots of things that are un-constitutional and the constitution was written by strong believers.

Satan - and we'll pay the price.
Don't worry, though.
We've seen the future...and we win.
