talk to a close friend....thats what i did. and it turned out that she had almost started cutting so i kept her from starting and she helped me quit. it was so easy....but i didn't do it for very long. now when i feel stressed or depressed. i blast my music and clean or exercise instead of cut. and if that doesn't work...i have my friend on speed dial.

Surround yourself with more positive things and throw or stay away from anything that is sharp enough to cut. Seek help from an educated professional and positive people who love you and willing to help you through this. You can't do it alone, b/c more than likely you cut yourself when you are alone...right? You think the physical pain will help decrease the emotional pain. Find a solution to your problems that stress you instead of hurting yourself to solve the problem....b/c you have already established you have a problem (THAT's GOOD!) Now.... b/4 you end up killing yourself... you must love yourself and respect yourself. I don't know your problem, but there is a way around this and I can't tell you what it is or how to find it.... you must do it. You must change your life, get rid of the problem, find a solution, stay positive and strong. Don't give in, that's WEAK! Don't be WEAK! Stay strong, think positive. There are people who care about you and love you and can comfort you better than cutting your wrist. God Bless and Good Luck

Mel,
Its very easy for others to stand by and give you their version of what to do,your anxieties and stresses are yours to bare.
It may help if you open up to some-one you trust and tell them what is happening.
Every action has a re-action and if you action to stress is to cut yourself, you need to find ways of destressing yourself and alot of people find this in talking or exercise or walking.
There alot of ways to calm yourself down and think clearer thoughts but only you can do this and with help alot of stressful situations hopefully will not seem as hard to cope with.
You need to let some-one know what is happening so you can be helped.
There is nothing to be ashamed of,take a chance on a friend,a family member,a teacher etc and tell them whats happening.
Good luck to you Mel

well you need to stop cutting ur wrist or you could die.its bad for you!so all you need to do is when you have a problem or your sad talk about it it makes you feel better and when you really feel like you need to cut your wrist then just keep saying no until you don't feel like it anymore and after awhile you feel better and you wont have to cut your wrist and you wont have to go see a therapist.

there is a reason you are cutting --> stressed. find other ways to relieve stress: running, aromatherapy, boxing, watching tv. in order to stop you have to figure out what is bothering you (something going on at home? school? boyfriend? friends?) and work on that. good luck and take care. you can google this: self mutilation. â¥â¥â¥

Well when i get really stressed out to the point where i want to inflict bodily harm usually on someone else i do one of 2 things i call my mom or brothers or someone in my family tell them i am highly pissed and then just start cursing and yelling into the phone like a mad man they listen tell me to calm down i do then i am better or i sit in front of my TV turn on my PS2 throw in GTA and start inflicting major bodily harm on anybody that walks past the character in the game i releave my stress and no one gets hurt sometimes just getting rid of the object of your stress works ubut sometimes its something you can't get rid of like having to pay a mortage or rent or something you can get rid of it but then you live in the streets
or just chat on-line with people sometimes you get freaks who just want to try to meet you and get some then you get people who genuinly want to try to help like some of the responders i have seen on here for depression i don't know i usually just stay to myself and deal with it

This is actually more common than one would think. I feel it has something to do with releasing endorphins into your brain. I would consider trying a healthier replacement activity, perhaps something more reflective like journaling, or chatting with either a therapist or a support group.

Inflicting pain on yourself when you are stressed is not healthy. You really should seek professional help. I have to take paxil for depression, stress, and anxiety; it has helped me.
