takes a hell of a lot longer than 2 seconds....
It depends on a lot of variables, like if it's a bright white image surrounded by all black, it will burn a lot faster than a lesser contrasting image. Most plasma products these days have a circuit built it to reduce (if not completely eliminate) this effect. Some call it an orbiter. It's in the customers menu settings, it will move the entire screen image a few pixels every so often, so the stationary image isn't hitting the same pixels.

if the unit doesnot have an orbiter a burn will occur anytime between 5 to 10 hours. some that are minor can be removed by doing a full screen burn but it shortens the life of the unit considerably. most plasmas wear 50% brightness after 6000 hours of use. panasonic is boasting 35% loss after 6000.
good luck.

I'm not sure, but my friend knows someone who has the Cartoon Network logo burned into his plasma tv because his kids watched it all the time. I think it took less than a year.
