she talks online to boys and mom and me need help monitoring what she says and what is said to her. call us nosey if you like but we just want to make sure she doesnt get in trouble.

You should be ashamed of your self for teaching her it is OK to snoop into others business. Instead of being sneeky about it just tell her you are going to look at her IM logs to see what she has been talking about and who she has been talking to.
Now to answer her question. What you want is called a key logger.
It will record every key stroke.
If you want to take this route you can do the research.

i'm an adolescent and that i have a software observed as adium that saves all my conversations and also you dont even should be logged on to view them. I in uncomplicated phrases were given it because I easily have a macbook. yet even if in case you probably did discover out what she become speaking about, what would you do to punish her? tell her that you've been nosey and positioned out all those issues? and then tell her that she has to have the laptop taken away? imagine about it.

The program is called talking to your kid!!!!!!!!!
Just tell her that u r worried about her and want her to be safe.tell her to not give out personal info and tell her that you trust her.Don't pester her but just casually talk to her and tell her that you are worried about the crazy people out there doing something wrong,not her.tell her you love her and just don't want her to get hurt.

I think It is better to give sufficient information to her to prevent any trouble:)
don't forget you (and also me) are a 20th century fathers, but our children belong to 21th.
I think its better to find ways to able them THINK WELL.
