I think you've hit the nail right on the head!
As one answerer said, it's probably too expensive for the companies to go through that much trouble. We have a lot of trouble with pantry moths getting into everything with the slightest gap. Once it's opened, I have to put it into a zip lock bag to keep the rotten things out. If I don't, I end up with grubs and moths in my food and have to throw it away.
Maybe you should contact the companies concerned and see what sort of response you get. Maybe they want your food to get ruined or go stale just so that you buy more of the product!

you know why cause the zip lock bag is a good idea but if they where to put it on the cereal boxes people will by less cereal that means that the cereal have a longer shelf live and people will buy less so they need to make us spend our hard earn money on more cereal that get stale fast if you leave it in the box.

How do we know they're not working on it now? It probably hasn't been done yet because it's cost-prohibitive. The production line may have to be revamped for this innovation. And keep in mind that any rise in cost will only be passed on to us, the consumers. Do we need to pay even MORE for a box of cereal than we're already paying?

The producer only would not favor to make certain that the bag is leak info. some are and some are not - even interior of an same field of luggage. attempt your bags, over the sink! good success with the typhoon. i'm in the Cleveland, OH section and it would even attain the following. we've already had 2" of rain in the perfect 2 days from the "chilly the front" that's to satisfy up with Sandy.

That would be an excellent idea. Its probably not very cost effective because they would have to retool their packaging equipment in order for that to happen. Secondly I doubt that anyone keeps cereal long enough to have to store it for long periods of time. Cereal is resilient to spoilage from air exposure so the current packaging is sufficient enough to maintain the freshness.
