Its fine as long as you don't swallow it and be sure to rinse your mouth out I've done it but damn the peroxide taste bad.
Also another way of doing it is Baking soda. Wet your toothbrush and dip it in the soda and brush away.

I've read that a lot of people do this to whiten their teeth; however, it is not recommended by the American Dental Association or any other organization. There is concern that the regular use of peroxides may cause overgrowth of undesirable organisms, leading to a condition known as black, hairy tongue. Sounds lovely, huh? The link below shows a picture of this so you know it's not made up. Peroxides may also damage the soft tissues in the mouth and cause delayed wound healing. If you wish to rinse with peroxide, I would dilute it with water. Unless you want a black, hairy tongue of course.

I am not sure of it works or not but you don't want to use it daily because it can cause tissue abnormalities. Be sure to dilute it 50/50 if you do. I don't recommend it as a whitening product to my patients because of the potential side effects. It is okay if it is an ingredient in the toothpaste but using it alone worries me a bit.
If it is surface staining you wan to remove you can use a whitening toothpaste, if it is the color of your teeth then you will need to get a product like the Crest white strips or see your dentist for whitening options he or she offers.

It depends on your health situation (dental)! This is NOT always safe. I know this first hand, as my husband did this. He started having problems, so we went to the dentist, and they told us NOT to use peroxide. So before you do anything talk to your dentist!

It is, people gargle with peroxide all the time and don't forget it's in toothpaste now and you brush with toothpaste everyday.

I don't know if it is, I know it isn't safe if you drink it (which I assume you already know, thanks for the points).
