If you were meant to be spending the day with someone and they got called into work, and they didn't let you know, would you be upset about it?
The other person doesn't see it as a problem and made no attempt at contacting to say plans had changed. Is this ok?

He got called into work over the weekend, but neglected to message me. He had apologised, only after I messaged him the next day, asking what had happened, but he didn't think it was a big deal and he was the one to make the plans in the first place.

I won't mind be passed over for work, thats life... But they should at least have the decency to call instead of making you wait, and worry, depending on close the person is to you.

So its definitely not ok, especially if its someone who is important to you or you'd like to be! Just ask them how would they feel...

Well you know the asnwer to this. However, they might not have thought your plans were as concrete as you thought they were. Just mention to that person that they should let you know next time.

The other conclusion that one may come to is that maybe they had to break plans at the last minute and didn't have a good enough excuse, therefore didn't contact you at all.

That person should have let you know there was a change in the plans you both had made, not one person!

no its not OK, there should be an apology at least. If the other person does not see this as a problem then they have an even bigger problem with their self-centered little world

no thats messed up. if the person got called in to work, then that is something that can't be helped, but they shouldn't let you know about it. thats rude to just have you waiting

I would be fizzing mad. if he took the time and effort to let you know plans had changed it would be ok. But is he worth your time and effort?

it's not a big deal that they had to work--but the decent thing to do would have been to let you know.

it isnt right... but give him the benefit of the doubt... maybe for some reasons... he wasnt able to inform you about the work ... because he was busy or something... wait for his explanation and everything would be all right

That's very rude and inconsiderate behaviour. Let him know that you will not tolerate this kind of rudeness.
