A license is not required to operate any vehicle on property that you own. For example, you have a large farm. You can drive any vehicle on you farm without a license. You do not need to have tags, nor insurance. You can even allow your underage child to drive.

Now if you are trying to drive on public roads, that is a different question. In most areas, any motor vehicle will require a license to operate. Check with your state DAV for more information!

It doesn't matter what kind of car it is. The car is not illegal (unless it is stolen or something). The fact that you don't have a license and are driving a car makes what you are doing illegal. Bottom line, if you don't have a license, any car you drive, you will be illegal.
