Try not to get too personal, it might scare her off. A gift certificate is kind of crude, it's basically the same as cash. Maybe a nice dinner, some flowers (not too extravagant, but not something you'd get your mother either), and a small gift.

Ideas: teddy bear, chocolates, a spa-type gift basket with stuff she can pamper herself with (most drug stores sell those at a reasonable price), or something practical that pertains to her life like a travel mug with a gift certificate from her fave coffee shop or with a bag of good coffee.

Things to avoid: lingerie, jewellry, pets, cash, books and/or music (until you know her tastes really well), blank journals, clothes, poems or songs (until at least 6 months) etc.

GL!

Well, get her something simple like flowers with a teddy bear and some chocolates and maybe some balloons that say Happy Birthday. Because you just started going out with her how about if you would of got perfume and she doesnt like the type of perfume you get! This is my opinion.

if you have only been going out a few days then you dont want to spend too much- it will set a precident you wont be able to beat when youve been dating a while and really care about each other. Get her a nice card and a token that she will appreciate. She likes horses? get her a horse teddy. cadburys chocolate? get her a big bar. The best present i ever got was 100 packets of spearmint polos because he knew they were my favourite!

You haven't said how old she is Jez. If she's a youngster then I'd suggest something sexy and silly (don't scare her off with a ring or turn her head by trying to spend too much monehy too soon)

If she's a bit older then go romantic and sensible, maybe tickets to see a show and pick her up in a limo with flowers and champagne....

Girls like clothing. It summer, maybe a new pair of sandals, or a cute bathing suit. Then dinner. I would not suggest flowers or chocolate, thats more of a valentines day thing. You want to keep that speical for the holidays.

Since you've only been going out a few days, just get her something little. Get her some flowers, her favorite chocolate, or a small piece of jewelry (like earrings or something).

All girls love flowers, and even if she doesn't like them, all girls like the gesture.
l wouldn't get perfume as if like you said you don't know much about her yet you don't want to get her a perfume that she may think smells of cats pee!
Flowers and dinner, can't go wrong with that!

If you have only been with her a few days don't go OTT as it could scare her off.... Shopping sounds good with maybe dinner / lunch thrown in - Depends on the type of girl she is.

Flowers are so boring plus they die in like 3 days. I think the best thing is a weekend getaway for both of you to a spa!

Nothing!

You have only been going out for a few days!

Make her some cakes or offer a similar thoughtful, inexpensive gesture.
