Because the issue is truly about Illegals, not immigrants. By the way, I noticed no difference.

The debate over illegal immigration has got legal immigrants quite heated. I know a man from Holland who's family was not allowed to leave New York until they had demonstrated fluency in English, as well as taken numerous tests over our laws, history, and government. He lived and worked here for years, after marrying an American woman and was only granted citizenship a few years ago, after his son had started school. He works for a computer programming firm, and the education that he had during his childhood in Holland and Indonesia in the 1930's was thousands of times more comprehensive than our education system could ever hope to achieve. He is really mad because he came through the legal way, which does suck a lot. Not to sound bigoted, but what are we going to do if 30,000,000 (or more) people who refuse to be assimilated into our culture gain the rights to governmentally provided services? How will it be when the Hispanics cannot be used like slave labor as they are today? What will happen when employers are required to pay them minimum wage just like everyone else? I believe that no one will want to hire them for the same wage when they can get an English speaking citizen (not guest worker) to do the same job without some type of affirmative action program, which will cause a huge amount of hatred and contempt. I also believe that this will put a huge strain on our economy to support these people when they do have trouble finding work. I don't think state governments are equipped to deal with this issue which has already found itself as far north as Ohio. Sorry if this got off topic a little. Feel free to rebut as this is only my opinion, but as a government employee, I believe I see a storm coming.

It involved mainly Hispanic but not only Hispanics because a majority of them are from Mexico. Most (Not All) of the other answers to this question are just idiotic and racist. We are all immigrants, except for the Native Americans.
It's not funny!

Yes, I did notice that and would like them to do it more often. It was so nice driving around my area without seeing men wearing "dego T-shirts" pulled way up from the bottom of the shirt to expose a large belly.
The stores were a bit more crowded that day because Americans thought that there would be LESS customers because of the rallies. Also, everyone I spoke with while shopping spoke ENGLISH. That was so refreshing.
It was also quiet when driving with no sounds of heavy bass coming from any cars, and people drove in a civil manner. It was a peaceful day.

Yeah, and i'll go a step further and point out that about 80% of them were Mexican. Personally, "A Day Without an Immigrant" was a good thing. Less traffic, empty welfare offices, lowered crime rate ... my only complaint is that the drive-thru window was closed at my friendly neighborhood McDonalds. Gee I wonder why.

No I did not find it funny, I find it interesting to see that only Latinos are willing to fight and stand up for what they believe. Latinos from all different places not only Mexico but from Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico....all these are Latino's. Criminals are not willing to give their face and fight for their rights like all these people did, Why? Because they are not criminals. They are just people like you and me, who are fighting for what they believe for!!!!!!!!
