First realize that hatred is a work of the flesh and not a fruit of the spirit. You are right in spurning it. Second, realize that you are generalizing and punishing a whole group of people for the few that have been shown to you by a very selective and deceptive media. Thirdly, pick up a muslim newspaper or befriend a muslim...if you don't know where to befriend a muslim, not trying to be stereotypical, but college campuses, gas stations and beauty supplies and convenient stores are where you can start. Talk with and try to understand them from a heart of love and a fresh perspective. Have you seen the movie "Syriana?" They did an excellent job of showing how our country and the the rest of the world look to muslims and why there is so much discord and separation between us. Hope your effort yields understanding and tolerance. PEACE

I've answered this question before for someone else, so im going to give you the same answer i gave him.
You probably just do racial profiling. Do you not like the Black Muslims too? If you do, then you hate an entire religion because of some extremists which is stupid. If you don't, you're still an asshole.
Don't blame an entire faith because of a bunch of nutcases. To further prove my point, I'll go back to the Crusades. When the Christians tried to take back the Holy Land, they brutally butchered, and even ATE some of the muslim people there. Would you go ahead and say that the whole Christian faith back then ate people? Every muslim doesn't hate America. Every muslim doesnt behead people.

Racism comes from ignorance.
The reason Islam provokes such reaction in so many people, especially Muslims themselves...
As long as we are uncapable of truly criticizing Islam and that religion, exposing it's flaws and good points like any others and allow people to kill and protect it by all means, we will always feel there is somthing being hidden and working against us.
It is the lack of transparency of Islam that causes these discomforts.
So understand that religion with a critical mind, don't listen to what Muslim or non-muslim say about it. Look into history, look at how Islam responds to the world and especially understand what it says about:
Women
Non-Muslims
Warfare (Jihad)
Freedom (rather than rights and justice)
Heaven
It is by understanding what opposes you that you will know how to address it fearlessly. Hatred only gives it more power.

Being/not being a racist does not have anything to do disliking another religion, it has to do with not liking a race. Disliking all Muslims is more like religious intolerance.
You have to realize that the majority of Muslims are very peaceful and find this kind of behavior a disgrace, just as not all Republicans are like George Bush, all democrats are not like the Clintons.
If that doesn't help you, look at it this way: In early times, devout catholics rounded up people they called heretics and burned them at the stake, began the theory that women who had knowledge were witches, and killed them as well. Does that make you think all Catholics are bad?

This might help
1- Do not generalize
2- Try to know them closely, do not rely on hear say.
3- Muslims are not one nation or one race, the are all over the world, so whatever the case may be, the can't all be bad... think that way.
4- Do not make any pre-judgment.
5- Read about Islam, even for few hours, from sources of Islam not from those who are against Islam.
I hope you will do one or two of the above.

I find the best cure for prejudice is knowledge. Educate yourself about Islam, just a bit. The United States is basically a Judeo-Christian culture, and the only interaction we seem to have with Muslims is with the lunatic fringe. They do not represent the average Muslim. It would be like assuming all Christians were like Timothy McVeigh or people who blow up abortion clinics. It's good that you realize you have this prejudice and want to do something about it. The world would be a much better, much more peaceful place if more people were like you.

I believe radicals and extremists use emotional hot buttons to draw people to their agenda without thinking rationally. Consider the current flag burning legislation going through the United States congress at this time. It has no true relevance at this time, it resolves no issues that affect the lives of everyday people, it just addresses something that makes a lot of people angry. There are many Muslims in the world, in fact I would say a majority of them, who were as shocked and horrified by the cruelty and violence perpetrated in all of their names as were any of the non-Muslim victims or witnesses all over the world. Just as all Americans are not to blame for the things that this handful of thugs complain about, not all Muslims are responsible for the heartache brought to us all by this senseless violence. Hate is a cycle, an escalating exchange of ignorance, prejudice and fear that does no one any good. Break the cycle in yourself and the cycle begins, by small degrees, to break down everywhere.

You choose the attitude that you have. I'd first say you need to stop watching the news, especially the news on the war.
Then go and meet a Muslim. Really, go meet one and make friends on purpose, with no other reason than you want to be friends. You'll see they are people just like you and me, and they love God too, they just call Him Allah! Just remember hon, they are not of the Christian flock, so you two sheep don't even get into whose shepherd is the best, k?

You are not going to stop hating Muslims until you try to understand them. Look up the religion on the internet. You will see that the Religion itself is no different then any other Religion and that there are some bad Muslims but not ALL Muslims are bad.

Study Islam with an open mind, may be you like to convert.
If you don't hate Christianity due to deeds of Bush and Blair then why hate Islam or Muslims due to stupid non-Islamic acts of few fanatics?
By the way what was Hitler's faith? Do you hate his religion for what all he did?
Rate a system knowing its basics, not the so called followers who may or may not be the true depiction of the system.
