Sounds right. I've been speaking English for 30 plus years and I don't understand the Scots. No one does.

Regional dialects are the hardest part of any language acquisition. You should try the American south or the New England states. I grew up speaking American English and there are some regions that I have problems understanding.

The best people or place to learn English is Ireland the diction and pronunciation is excellent, better than England.

it is english too but they pronounce it in a much different way...some people in England, the original country that speaks english speak the same way as well

Don't worry about understanding the scots.
I am Italian and have a scottish friend who asks me to make his phone calls for him because no one understands him.
Basically it's their problem not yours.

Yeah, sometimes yoy need to ask them to write down what they are saying, an surprise, they were speaking english!
