Yes, radioactive isotopes of certain elements like iodine at very vary low concentrations are given intravenous.these isotopes get absorbed at malignant regions brain and appear prominently in CAT or MRI scans.These radioactive dyes are also used in diagnostic imaging scans of other organs.

The best exams I can think of to do that are an enhanced computerized tomography, and an enhanced magnetic resonance image. And yes, they use IV contrast with iodine.

Yes it is still used today however it is injected and looks for cancer and where it has or hasn't spread. I have an idea that it can also be used as a cancer treatment but not positive on that one.

yes, could be. i am not sure if they use it now but earlier they made people drink radio active substances and asked them to wait so that it reaches their blood. once it is there, they took x-rays to detect and tumors etc.
