This does sound too heavy. Boy or Girl? Height?? For those who don't know what kilograms are; this is 55Kg, she said. And even 45.5 is a lot. 55 is 55x2.2pounds Which is 121 pounds. This is a LOT. I would say that at age 12, and about 5ft tall, a male should weigh about 40kg, and a female perhaps the same. Girls at this age are nearing puberty so they will naturally be prone to naturally put on fat. Boys however will not start to muscle up for another 2 or more years. Check some charts, but I am pretty sure that this is perhaps 10 to 15 POUNDS overweight (5 to 8 kg)

Of course not. 55 kilos is a healthy weight for a 12 year old in my opinion. (n_n)
It's much healthier and better looking than being a walking stick (like so many stupid young teens these days).

And the word is 'overweight' not 'fat'. Nobody can really BE fat. Know what i mean?

How tall is the 12 year old? If they are shorter than average, then probably they are overweight. However, If you are not sure then they are probably not "fat." Remember, at 12 they are still growing ('awkward' stage). You can really hurt their self-esteem if you tell them they are fat. Best thing to do is find out their height, and call their doctor to find out. If it is true that the 12year old is overweight, maybe you can sugguest some sport activities. Another words, keep them active. And, make sure they are eating healthy. Good Luck! And, don't worry.

Dear Child,
Children gather up fat at your age so they can consume it when they start growing in height. At you age its nothing to worry about just try to participate in active sports and start swimming or running or cycling you will develop very nicely and would not be fat when you grow up I can guarantee you that.
Just eat a good balanced healthy diet and dont eat to many fats and sweets and exercise regularly !
You will be okay do not try to loose weight by dieting or taking any weight loosing medicine.
