1) which hour is that exactly?
2) How long does that hour last?

The guy on the street where I go get my lunch every day seems to think that the hour of God is at hand. Now, I'm usually down there at about 11:45, so I was thinking it must be noon... Then again he's been telling me this for the last 8 years, so naturally, I'm more than a little curious about this.

Thanks for that, because it tells me a whole lot.

lol Some people just can't tell time, eh?

He is speaking of the moment when Jesus comes back, that particular "hour" since that word is often used in prophecy in the Bible. He wasn't really saying in the next 60 minutes lol.

That is sort of the problem with the fanatical, they do not seem to get that those folks unfamiliar with Scripture do not understand what the heck the fanatics are saying, especially when they use archaic expressions.

I always try to follow Jesus example of just talking to people like a friend. You may remember how He began a lot of His parables or teachings with "You have heard it said....". He didn't try to shove the book, chapter and verse down their throat, just reminded them of how the story goes before making His own point.

I'm sure that guy on the street has got the right sort of yearning heart, but he is not doing much good the way he is going about it.

The hour of God is not really an hour. Well at least not in the way we usually think about an hour. The hour of God is when he comes back to earth for the second coming. I think in the Bible it say something like. "No man knows the time or the hour which he cometh" Don't quote me on that but I think that's the jest of what it says. So when the guy on the street says the hour of God is here he means that God is coming soon.

He's using biblical language. The Bible uses the word "hour" to describe a time period, not necessarily a literal hour.

And, as many others have already said, he's probably referring to the return of Jesus. And if this guy's best intentions are to warn you to be prepared for that, that's very wise advice.

Jesus talked extensively about the "end-times" and His second coming. You can read it for yourself what He said in Matthew 24 and 25. And if you don't have a Bible, you can look it up on BibleGateway.com. I've provided the link below.

It's obvious his watch has stopped. LOL It would be better stated as --the time of God is at hand. Hours, minutes and all that are probably pretty meaningless to God. As the first person said "the end is near".

If he says it every hour, then when it actually happens, he'll be right. And we all like to be right.
