For you or him?

First of all remember he is only one,so it really is not going to leave a lasting impression on him. And his attention span is pretty short,so no need to do to much or he will be a cranky pants and you will be stressed. The Dollar store always has cute things for cheap. We always just have grandparents and 1 or 2 other small kids.Let him sit in a high chair and chow down on cake(Shirtless) and get him some balloons and presents. It is more for us then them.Kids need our love, not things.

He's one years old, he won't remember. I don't remember my First b-day ... do you remember yours?

I think a gathering of family at the house, a few fun games, a few b-day presents, and lots of pictures of your son eating his first b-day cake will very nicely suit your need for economics.

Remember to save the pictures so he can later look at them many years from now.

No need for celebration, Just hold him tight and show your love ,somewhere in his mind he will never forget, and dont forget to do this on a regular bases, and let him know how important he is to thoes who love him, and dont let him stray away from that love.

A one year old is not going to remember anything. Best to save your money for his college costs.

It sounds like you are more into that he would be. Are you competing with your sister?
