can you get credit or mess up credit if you are underage?

I am underage, and i have a joint savings account with my mother who is the primary. She keeps making me overdraft it. Could that be messing up my credit? What would happen if she over drafted it 300 dollars and it went to collections? Would that just hurt her credit or mine too, even though i didn't have a choice?

You can get a credit card as a minor, but you will need to have an adult co-sign for it. It's actually a good idea, because you are starting to build your credit history/credit score. By the time you are 23 and ready to buy your first car, you will have a few years of credit established.

And if you mess up and don't pay your card on time, or continue to go over your credit limit, you will definately mess up your credit.

You cannot enter into a legally binding contract until you are 18. You might be a secondary cardholder on someone else's account (typically a parent) before then, though not all lenders will do that.

yes if you have an add on card. But if you want to become a primary card holder then you need to be 18 yrs.
