They tried it in the Soviet Union. It was called communism. It didn't really work - believing in not believing there is a God - allows you to behave without morals. Maybe, people with religion start wars because they think their beliefs are right and everyone else is wrong. but the belief that there is no God, Allah, Jehovah, whatever - appears to be worse. At least people who believe in a God have some morals. Christianity is the basis for most of the laws in the Western World too. The question is will World War three be because of religion or because of lack of religion?

No we should never ban religions as you can't tell people how to feel or what to beleive in. We should however stop people inflicting there beliefs on everyone else and stop using religion as a reason for wars or terrorism. Personally I respect people of all religions but i'm not religious myself.
In short:
Be excellent to each other.

Rather than throw the baby and the bad water, why not take time to learn how to take the baby away from the bad water and knowing how to throw away the bad water.
All religion cannot be bad- infact none is bad but time and people..
You are perhaps not schooled on why there exist religions? Take time to learn and you'd get to know so much about this reality that we cannot do without. Its a vacuum that must be filled- right or wrongly. You owe yourself the duty to find out the right one, that s why God gave you your 'reasoning'. Good luck

There shouldn't be a ban. I'm not religious but a lot of people need something to believe in. It's also inbred so you can't just ban it cause they would still believe and worship.

a lot of reformed criminals find religion and stop committing crimes, if there is no religion, the crime rate would be much higher. Religion is also some people rock. A lot of times faith helps us to go on during hard times and be thankful during happy times.

I am a devout Atheist but accept that religion has a place in a modern world.

Its basic values are important even if the means by which it spreads itself is out of date.

Freedom of speech is important. If we were not fighting over religion we would be fighting over something else instead. Humans are naturally confrontational, it is how we rose to the top of the food chain in the first place.

nearly every war in the last 2000 years has been over religion or because of it and the current terrorism is also using their religion as a excuse ..... speaks for it's self really.
