It is simply an arch formed with bricks layed (horizontally or vertically) with a small gap at the bottom and a larger at the top. The strength is due to the natural tendency of an arch shape to transmit downward force out to the sides and down the supporting wall/pillars.

This type of arch (if it is of significant size) is laid using centering i.e. formwork to allow it to be supported until the mortar goes off.

an arch made up of brick, you will need to make a platform curved from one pillow to the other before attempting to lay the brick the platform can be removed after using metal ties to join the brick work forming the arch , make sure that the brick work is a tight joint no more than a few mill at the platform and expend it at the top to tie in

Any arch built using bricks,( burnt clay bricks) and mortar (mixing lime and sand, cement and sand) .In olden days almost all arches were built like this only and even today these are being built. Masons build them.
