Especially the scene where a religion is created, a messiah is proclaimed, a schism occurs, heritics are attacked...... all within the space of a few minutes.

Absolutely. I love the "Life of Brian" so much. it's funny but it also has a message attached and it totally sums up my thoughts on the pointlessness of religion.

Its a jolly good movie alright. Totally off subject: my favorite part is when the Roman soldiers chase him up a tower and he is trapped. He has no choice, so he jumps, lands in a passing flying saucer, goes on a wild chase, and the sacuer crashes right outside the tower he fell from.
