Okay- Can a short haired dog be shaved? And will this reduce the amount of hair shed? Also, he is an inside dog so he will not get sunburnt.

Brushing him would be better. Look for a brush that gets at his undercoat.

Its going to cost you more money shaving the dog, then spending 5 mintues a day brushing him/or her. Make it a game for your kids you brush him/or her you get a $1, or when your sitting on the couch watching tv. If you want him/ or her shave go for it! But that means the dog will look funny, the new hair that grows back will itch him. Hes hair will grow in thicker every time. YOU CAN NOT STOP SHEEDING YOU CAN REDUCE IT.

Oh my NO! this will make this poor animal just MISERABLE!!! Have you ever shaved a part of your body that usually goes un-shaven?
If so, remember how it feels when the hair starts growing back?
GEEEEEEZZZZ!!!!!!
Just spend some time with your animal,,wash and CURRY his coat as often as possible, Its summer, and its a natural occurance to have him shedding more hair, but PLEASE, for his sake, don't shave him!(just think what his doggy buddys will say when they see him!) he he he !!!

not a good idea, when his hair grows back the itchiness will drive him nuts, as for his shedding hair they tend to do this seasonally you know get a winter coat and a summer one he will do this even if he is an inside dog, doesn't he ever go outside???

Um, no never shave your Boxer. You should brush him every day until his summer coat is in, then it should slow down.

You should find another owner for your Boxer-obviously you are not mentally able to handle dog ownership.

Please don't shave your boxer. No, it won't cause him to shed less, and yes, dogs (and cats) can get sunburnt.
