It's running neck to neck here and I am still stuck for the push over answer. Most of you have good sincere answers, it will be hard to decide the best one, I will leave open and if you answered already, do so again if you want.

Atlanta, Ga. Unfair advantage because I live here now, but Atlanta is the big city that ISN'T a big city, if you catch my drift. It's in the stage where the balance between city life and simple southern living is almost perfect. All the cultural/entertainment options of NY or CHI, fairly moderate weather with no serious natural diasters to worry about, affordable cost-of-living, great people. Atlanta is a no-brainer.

I have lived in Atlanta, and worked several weeks in Austin .. over all I prefer Austin .. it's easier to get around, has all of the big city conveniences but it's a lot smaller. The surrounding area is a lot more inviting and they have a nude beach (Hippy Hollow) that is a lot of fun. There is a club district similar to a small Bourbon Street and a strong family atmosphere the rest of the area.

I'm considering moving myself (recently retired early) to get out of the snow and ice of the midwest and have considered both. Atlanta because I'm more familiar with it and it's closer to my family but I loved Austin .. someone suggested Raleigh NC and it sounds really enticing due to cost of living etc .. thankfully I've worked in most of the cities installing and networking computer systems so there are few cities I don't have some sort of idea about.

I've been to Atlanta, very cosmopolitan for the South. I knew someone from Austin and the city she described sounded like a lot of fun. I guess I'd go to Austin, doesn't sound quite so Big City.

Atlanta, Ga.

I've lived near both of them. Austin is a lot smaller, but other than that they both seem to be kinda friendly Southern towns. I wouldn't live downtown in either one of them because of the traffic and all that, but if I had to choose I think I'd pick Austin on the whole.

I would move to Atlanta, Georgia because there are so many things to do and there are great people there. The scenery is so beautiful. Think of moving as and adventure, not a nightmare.
