I believe it on conversions between religions for love, even thou, hasn't be so effective in some religions.
Now a conversions for community comfort, I don't know, because I never heard of it and I don't know anyone whom have done this type of conversions.
If you want an advice about it...I think you should stay with those whom accept you as you are, regarding religion you have or not, because people don't change, they can improve, but become someones, I doubt it, even thou you do all as the new religion requires you to do, there will always have those whom don't accept you.
As I said on one of my previous answers. Get what you have, and use the things in there, you consider good for yourself, letting by side those you don't considers, or goes against your own nature.

not for the sole reason of comfort with community BUT I do think that deeply religious people should be careful to not shove their beliefs down others throats and everyone should be open to the fact that its ok to believe whatever you want

I beleive a lot of people follow magior dogma's just to comform.
