What happens if a canine distemper shot is given to a kitten instead of a cat distemper shot? An assistant at my vet gave my kittens the canine shot instead, but they said they will be fine. I'm just worried...has anyone had this happen?

well it will do nothing to protect the kitten for the diseases that it needs to be protected against. Other than that, it will be fine.
It probably happens more than we know!!!!!

The person above me is just totally clueless though!!! The rabies vaccine is one and the same for dogs and cats, but the distemper vaccine is not. They are totally different diseases that each species get. They cannot be covered in one vaccine for both species!!!!!!!!! That is just totally wrong information!!!!!!!

Go to a different vet and get the kitten checked. The only shot in common between a cat and dog is the rabies vaccine. There is no way that they should be mixed up the canine and kitten Distemper vaccines. Definitely time for a new vet!

It is one and the same shot they give to cats and dogs don't worry about it. NOTHING will hapen. I worked for the SPCA and we used to give shots regularly, and we only used one for all animals
