Oh for the love of Mike. Passions are normal and sins are offenses against other people and nature, not thoughts. Just live a normal moral life, helping when you can and really trying not to hurt and you're done. Don't be so vain and self-centered that you care so much about educating your will and suppressing your passions. Worry about leading a meaningful life by helping others and live outside of your head every now and then.

Prayer
when temptation comes calling and the flesh is activated, look to the heavens and ask for strength. find a strong verse in the bible that you hold dear to your heart that and speak it with authority. Remember to avoid the temptation if at all possible. It does no good to go to a strip club and then beg for strength. Yes, the flesh is real and the passions are real, but the flesh dies and with sin eternal death follows. I am just as human as you and have struggled with this as well. This mentioned technique has given me an iron will and a happy marriage

You're human. (I hope.)
So accept it. I'm sure whatever God exists would not assign one free will, have one learn, yet expect perfection out of it all at the same time. That's like starting school and being given the final exam the first day.
If you truly want to be pure of mind, then you must learn it. Sins cannot be truly avoided, and passions do not just go away.

By understanding the 'nature' of what is called as "mind" ! Check if this true of mind : Is it not a bundle of thoughts? If yes, then less thoughts means less mind state (not less intelligence!). Also, is not every thought 'some kind of a judgement'. That is why when the mind is still, intelligence performs at it peak (example, when the apple fell and mind was relaxed, calm, & still, intellect could discover gravity, so also steam power when the water in the kettle boiled and steam blew its lid !). If you can maintain some distance between you and your mind, then very less chances of confusions (because expectations cause problems, not goals).
