Traditional. Personally, I say to hell with it. Exchanging greetings is Victorian and is seen as being polite.

It's polite. It's a way of acknowledging an aquaintance. It's a part of our networking skills. Some of us are better at it than others.

I don't do it everytime I see someone I know..I figure sometimes they don't wanna be bothered or whatever..Plus, i'm shy, so i'm never really the first to say anything. Lol.
