Ok crackpot, Catholics do not worship the Virgin Mary--they venerate her. They do not believe she has the powers of God, but they believe she has special access to intercede on our behalf. Since you asked the false question, you are the deceiver. I don't even believe in God, but I really am appalled at people who spread hate.

Despite people on this site saying that they do not worship mary, they most certainly DO!
In most european countries they have processions where they carry a statue of mary through the streets and they put flowers on the statue and they all bow down to this idol and worship it!
YES ROMAN CATHOLICS WORSHIP IDOLS AND MARY. THEY ARE IDOL WORSHIPERS!

catholics honor mary, not worship.
basically she carried the son of god in her womb. she is a special person. she's jesus's mom.
catholics give her credit and honor her for her courage and committment to her son.
catholics ask mary to help us pray to jesus. the rosary isn't praying to mary but to jesus in union with mary.
catholics believe she has a special place in heaven and that is honored as well.
there are some catholics that worship mary. that is very wrong and against the catholic church.
people are amazing sometimes in that they state their opinions as a fact and then spread that incorrect opinion around like it's a fact.

We do not worship idols!!!!
I'm sorry, but I'm sick and tired of people thinking that! Mary was the mother of God, but we do not worship her, we worship her Son, Jesus. We revere her as an interceder, but we DO NOT worship her!!!
Edit:
@ the poster above me:
I was going to write a scathing post about yours, but I decided that I will instead pray for you. You obviously have had bad run ins with our church, and I am very sorry for that. To repeat again, no matter what you have heard or seen, we do not worship Mary, and anyone who does should not claim themselves Catholic.

Do you have pictures of your loved ones? So do we.
Do you worship these pictures or the people they remind you of? Neither do we.
Do you love and honor the people represented in the pictures? So do we.
Catholics and many other Christians believe in the Communion of Saints where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.
Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.
As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.
With love in Christ.

The catholic Church doesn't worship idols.
A statue of Mother Mary merely helps us remember Her , that she is the Mother of JESUS !
PLZ read what JESUS tells Mother Mary just before he died on the cross.
GOD Bless U
