The Catholic Church is the true church for me but maybe not for you.

The Catholic Church does not use Holy Scripture as the only basis of doctrine. It could not. The early Catholic church existed before and during the time that the New Testament was written (by Catholics).

There were hundreds of Christian writings during the first and second centuries. Which New Testament writings would become official was not fully decided until about 400 AD.

Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit was guiding the early church (and is guiding the church today) to make the correct choices about things like:
- The Holy Trinity (which is also only hinted at in the Bible)
- Going to church on Sunday instead of Saturday (which is actually directly against one of the Ten Commandments)
- The Communion of Saints
- Which writings include in the New Testament?

Things that are even more modern like
- Slavery is bad. Slavery is never declared evil in the Bible. This is one of the justifications for slavery in the Confederate States.
- Democracy is good. The Bible states that either God should be the leader of the nation like Israel before the kings or kings should be the leader, "Give to Caesar that which is Caesar's." This was talked about a lot during the American Revolution.

This second source of doctrine is called Holy Tradition.

With love in Christ.

The Church at Rome 'excommunicated' the true Church of God, for holding to the doctrines of the Apostles, about the middle of the second century A.D. And isn't it the doctrines of the Apostles and Jesus Christ (the Chief Apostle) that define the true Church of God?

The only claim the Catholic Church has to authenticity is that the Apostle Peter was their first bishop. Yet this is a lie put forth by that church for the sole purpose of usurping authority -- all the early lists of Roman bishops do NOT list Peter as a bishop, ever. And this only makes sense, because why would an Apostle, appointed by Jesus, give up the very important Apostolic position to become a mere bishop?

So, the Catholic Church cannot be the true Church of Jesus Christ. Anything else is just another Catholic lie.

Christian doctrine has little to do with the Bible reguardless of denomination. I've heard lunicies from Protestents such as "if you cuss and are unable to repent before you die you will go to hell". In fact a common theme among many Protestant chruches is that a single sin can condem you to hell or that just by repenting it is all good.

Dogma is an unfortunate side effect of politics and it's enevitable corruption of the organization where the politics happen. For every Catholic Dogma which isn't based on the Bible you can find just as many Protestent Dogma's that are not based on the Bible.

So basically when you look at Churches the Catholic church has one advantage over most Protestent churches. It left in more books in the Bible. Other than that there is no real difference in how true they are too the Bible.

Now lets take the Bible itself. Even the Catholic churches version is less than half of the availible texts that were considered Gospel during the early days of the Church. The Discovery or History channel did an interesting story on the the lost books of the Bible. Politics had far too much to do with both Catholic and later Protestant Bibles. Though the Irony of the King James Bible being the core Protestant Bible and King Jame's actually being a secret Catholic is humerous. In fact the King Jame's Bible itself came about because of poltics. There was nothing religious about it's origions except maybe the clashing of various fanatics all fighting to be "the" religion of England at the time. A clash that turned so violent that many fled England for the new world over the next few hundred years. A clash that left hundreds of thousands dead in Europe.

So if being true to the Bible is important. Get a codex and start reading the Bible in it's context. It would help if there was a better translation around. If you don't read ancient Greek and Hebrew so much is lost in translation. I have had friends that deeply studied the Bible and for a time thier faith was shaken by how badly translated the English language Bibles really are. People are living thier lives on some really misworded phrases. They are also taking ancient attidudes which made perfect sense in the ancient world and trying to inflict them upon a modern world. They use vague Bible references as the justification. In fact all they are doing is running out the flag of Dogma confusing Dogma with actual word of God.

What makes me such an expert? Nothing. I just look at it with an open eye and did a bit of research. The more research I do the more dogma I see in the modern Christianity. Sometimes when I go to church I analyze the interactions. Watch the politics, listen to the sermon and look for the agenda which is often very plain when you then look at the push going on at that given time. Sometimes tied to politics, sometimes tied to current events or a goal of the church. Often it's actually an attempt at something positive, but what bothers me is the delivery. The deliberate deception and manipulation in a place that is supposed to be meant for learning, not deception, money gathering or social interactions. To all too many Christians the church is primarily a networking opportunity. They meet people who are thier future cutomers, partners in business, who can help them with various things. The sermons tending to be not to bring people closer to God but to drive them to a task or viewpoint.

Any God I'd be interested in following isn't going to be a petty and vindictive spirit. They will be one who helps humanity. Who is a positive factor in our lives. Not the wish granter so many want him to be. They ask why does this happen, yet why didn't so many other things happen? It's all in the perspective. Don't ask God to help you win a ballgame. Ask him to save the life of your friend with Cancer.

So in short the name on the outside of the church is not all that meaningfull. The spirit in which that church operates is what is important. None of them have it even half right when it comes to the meaning of the Bible or even have half the core books actually in the Bible they use. There is so much lost by excluding many books. More lost by trying to understand the literal rather than the reason for the words.

Constantine wittingly or unwittingly being emperor gave rise to that claim which grew thought out the ages. As for a true church well you'd have to look to those that were persecuted by the Romans and what their beliefs were. I personally like those of the Catharoi train of thought, although there are other gnostic christian groups as well. Be ye careful if you are searching for truth in these days for there are many who would deceive you, so remember that you are your best judge of scripture except the Lord so let no man tell you that this means this and that means that

The Roman Catholic Church is wrong

The "true church" is made up of those who believe in Jesus as Saviour

Believers can be found in Catholicism despite its wrong teachings

And also in other Christian denominations

There is no single denomination that has all the answers

Also lots church goers dont have their hearts in it and are not saved

MORMONISM and JEHOVAH'S WITNESS are NOT Christian and never will be

Who started YOUR Church?
Was it started by one of the Apostles?
Where did your church begin?
Did it even begin in a place that is mentioned in the Bible?
Was it even on the same continent?
When did your church begin?
Did it start in Biblical times?

The Orthodox churches split from the Roman Catholic Church around 1054.

The Lutheran church was started by Martin Luther in Germany around 1517.

The Presbyterian church or reformed churches were started by John Calvin in Switzerland in the mid-1500's.

The Baptist church was started by John Smyth in Amsterdam around 1609.

The Methodist church was started by John Wesley in London around 1738.

The Mormon church or Church of Latter Day Saints was started by Joseph Smith in New York around 1830.

The Seventh Day Adventist church was started by Ellen Gould White around 1860 in Michigan.

The Jehovah's Witnesses got their start by Charles Russell in Pennsylvania around 1879.

The Christian Scientists were started by Mary Baker Eddy in Massachusetts in 1879.

The Church of Scientology was started by L. Ron Hubbard in Washington, D.C. in 1952.

The Calvary Chapel was started by Chuck Smith in California in 1965.

For others it is not so simple. The United Church of Christ was started in 1957, but they credit several different people in different countries over different centuries that they feel shared their general beliefs. Some credit, James O'Kelly, Abner Jones, Elias Smith, Barton Stone, Thomas Campbell, Alexander Campbell and the list goes on.

This is only a small list. Thousands of churches have sprung up here and there. The list of founders goes on and on.

So who started the Roman Catholic Church. According to the 1999 World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia CD, "The Roman Catholic Church traces its beginnings to about A.D. 30, when Jesus instructed the apostles, his followers, to spread his teaching about the Kingdom of God." (Other sources affirm this as well.)

The Roman Catholic Church is the only church that can trace its true roots all the way back to the very beginning of Christianity and it is the church founded by Jesus himself.

The succession of all of the Popes can be traced directly back to the Apostle Peter, who was given "the keys to the Kingdom" by Jesus.

SO... Who started YOUR Church??

Your question is your answer. "Even though all the doctrine are not based on the Bible." Jesus said "My Word is truth" If it is not based on truth then it is not true. Stick to the Bible! Jesus said "If you abide in Me and My words abide in your... you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. The truth was around for 300 years before Catholics came along.

Roman Catholic was one of the first churches, It stands to reason that it would be the true church, if there IS ONE true church, since it is the only one of them remaining today. You have to admit, it has a better chance ofbeing the one than Pentecostal of Southern baptist, Or MOrmon, since they are late-comers to the play.
