When will Latinos in the USA learn to speak Spanish correctly? They suck, always mixing Spanish and English?

The times I've traveled to the USA I always noticed the same.
There are almost no Latinos that you can talk properly with.
All they do is mix parts of English and Spanish in the same sentence, when grammatic are totally different.
Come on! Have more dignity and learn both languages!

I totally agree with head_blown_apart, that's the kind of answer I was looking for.
I have nothing against the Latinos living in the USA, I just think they should learn both languages properly, English because they now belong to the American society, and proper Spanish to honour their heritage.
Is that too much to ask?

Amen brother, It bothers me too. But you have to understand that most of them have also low education and their spanish is not going to be completely "proper", plus they don't really speak spanish all the time and the environment forces the to use only english. By the way I'm hispanic too, but you have to know when and how to speak properly. Chao!

First let me congratulate you on your mastery of the English language. Your English is as good, if not better than that of some of the native English speakers who posted replies to you.

Since you say it is important to speak English correctly, and I am a grammar teacher, I have corrected your post so that you can learn. Take it or leave it. By the way, most of your usage was very good. There were only two errors that would bother a native English speaker. One was the 'talk' vs. 'speak' that another poster mentioned, although many in the US make the same mistake; the other was your use of 'grammatic.' See below.

Try "THEY always MIX Spanish and English." Present participles (mixING) when used as verbs require the helping verb "be" (am, is, are, was, were, etc.) in front. Also, this is not a question, so it needs a period instead of a question mark.]

Make them the same, and since it has been multiple occassions, they should both be present perfect. "During the times that I've traveled to the US,(add comma) I HAVE always NOTICED the same.

"Talk" usually has the idea of "platicar" and should never be followed by a language, whereas "speak" is what one does to a language, or when your discourse has a specific purpose. You SPEAK English, you SPEAK it properly, or you can SPEAK to your brother about his drinking habits, but you TALK to your friends (about nothing in particular), or you TALK too much. Proper English bans the use of a preposition at the end of a sentence, although most native English speakers in the US ignore this rule. It is more proper to say, "There are almost no Latinos WITH WHOM you can SPEAK properly." Or you could simplify the sentence to "There are almost no Lations who speak properly."]

There is no set spanish. The real Spanish is from Spain itself with the use of vostros y vostrosa. Columbianos, Cubano, Mexicanos, and every other type of Spanish has their own way of saying things. And give them credit, they come over to America to have a better life style and trying to mix with us and learn English so they can survive in America, not everywhere in the US Spanish is spoken. If you go down to Lousiana, they speak French.

It is called code switching. Often people switch languages as a show off type game, almost "can you follow me"? Sometimes a word is just better expressed in one language than another.
This is not just done in Spanish/English. Most people who speak more than one language do it at one time or another if they are speaking with others who know both languages.

People use language the way they do to identify themselves as part of a group. The way that people in the U.S. switch between Spanish and English is very consistent; it is not a "lazy" version of either language. Since you are unable to do this in the same way, it identifies that you are not a member of a group who does this. They are doing it to identify themselves as members of a certain group, and exclude people who don't belong to that group. You're one of those people.

Haha suprisingly when i went to belize, they were even worse at mixing the languages. ITs the same as french canadians who put english words.
