Something tells me that you’re not looking for these answers, but here goes. There are many reasons for why people can be (or are) scared of dieing.
Perhaps you aren’t ready to die because you’re torn spiritually because you have thousands of religions telling you that their god is the only one and to choose otherwise will cause your soul to be damned to hell. (That’s a big one)
Perhaps you’re doubtful of the existence of a heaven or a hereafter and are convinced that the only place there is after you die is only hell. (Another good one)
Perhaps you feel that the only thing that awaits you is the great emptiness of the void and that for the remainder of all eternity there will be nothing but emptiness. (That can get very scary if you honestly think of it)
Perhaps you aren’t certain that there is enough you can do to work out the issues that tempted you or tormented you while you were on this mortal coil. (After all, there’s no spiritual ATM to tell you what your spiritual debt or balance is)
Perhaps you’re the type of individual who’s alright with the idea of dying but you don’t want to do it alone or away in a strange hospital with nobody familiar, not even your loved ones nearby.
Perhaps you’re worried about dieing a ‘bad’ death, one which is painful and lingering or perhaps a death where you didn’t want anyone to find you doing. (Like dieing while taking a crap right after you hear that you just won the lottery)
Perhaps you didn’t want to die in a state of sadness. (Say for instance you’ve just watched your wife and children die because of something you did, like a car crash, and you realized that you were responsible for it)

I think most people are scared of the unknown and what is possibly to come. I guess it would matter in the sense of what you actually believe in... heaven, hell or purgatory. And some people are scared of just the pain to get through it... I personally would be... but more upset at the thought of how my family would feel. I know personally about that.. because we recently lost my father.. and you wouldn't believe the amount of thoughts and questions that come up thinking about where he is now and if he is actually doing something... if there really is another plane we could be on. You know..?

I can only speak for me. I'm not really scared of death, I do fear that I will never see loved ones again - and my time on earth has many pleasures which I hate to give up - singing, traveling, music, computers, the sun rises and settings, the beautiful creatures of the world, books, literature, education, etc. and it seems so many things I give up when I die.
And as others have pointed out - fear of the unknown.

The person who is afraid of death, is much more careful and stands a good chance of living longer. With that extra time he/she probably will spend it on making more babies that are just like the parent, Afraid of death. The cycle goes on and on.
I say , live a good life, and don't worry about it. If your turn comes make the best of it.
They say a person who is afraid of dying, dies a million times, the one who is not, dies but once.

You are scared of death as long as you are 'connected' to the material things in this world. There are many yet-to-be-acheived wants and needs, so we are scared of death.
I'm scared of death. I have a family, unfinished ambitions, loans, etc. But I know that there will come a time when I'll be 'ready'.

I think people are afraid more of not knowing what happens after death then actual death itself. It's the thought of time never ending .I mean never ever ending. Actually, It's probably going to be like when you close your eyes at night and go to sleep. Your so unaware of anything whike your sleeping. Only when death becomes you, Your just never aware of anything ever again.

It's the fear of the unknown. It is actually unknown what happens when we die. There are far to many religions to have any one of them be the "right one." Although I do believe in an afterlife, I don't know what that will be. And to claim your religion as the only way is just arrogant.

Its basically their fear of the unknown. These people would do well to realise that there is nothing anybody could do about Death - the greatest certainty in life! Worrying about Death is as useless as fretting about snowfall, rain or earthquakes. One has to accept it and relax.

some people "the ones who afraid to die" don't believe in heaven because no one have seen it no one had proof and human nature needs a proof every time for everything and secondly god has put that fear in our heart and hide the feeling of heaven from us because if no one is afraid of death and everyone knows what is after death everyone will die, kill them selves. so, its god who put that fear because that is how he could run this world.

People fear death because of a variety of reasons.
Because they fear for themselves and their loved ones, thinking the world will not get by in their absence.
because they think they are gonna get punished for their wrongdoings on earth.
because they start to fear that they haven't used their lives well and to the fullest extent. And do all the things they had always wanted to do,but couldn't because of lack of guts, money or both.
